I shipped a package on Saturday to the address provided in my checkout form. I get an email from the lady on Monday that the package shows delivered but she never got it. She wanted to know what addy I sent it to so I copied and pasted the address she provided. She then told me I had totally left off the suite # and company name. I replied that I had shipped to the exact address she had entered and she said she'd go looking around for it.
Today she comes back and says I totally transposed the numbers on the address and what am I going to do to make it right.
My question is what recourse do I have with someone who filled in the wrong address? I know I'm supposed to prove it was delivered, but I shipped to where she wanted. Would I owe her a refund or wait to see if the package comes back or is rerouted? Geez. She says that I should have ignored what she put and only shipped to her Paypal address.
The worst is the attitude I get from her about "What are YOU going to do to make this right?"
She only ordered on Friday and I shipped on a weekend day so she could have her product quickly and now I'm in a pickle.

Well, what is the zip code on her Paypal address/
If it is the same as her checkout address, she wont win with Paypal,as the DC will show it has been delivered.
Why dont you go to USPS website and see if it has been delivered?

The name, street name, city, and zip code are all the same...she's claiming I left off the suite number and switched some of the numbers on the building. The eDC shows delivered yesterday.
She had initially asked me to charge the shipment to her FexEx account but I'd never do that as I've heard about scams this way.
She's beginning to smell fishy at this point and I'm afraid I'll end up paying for it.
I did email her back just now and told her that if the package was refused and sent back to me that I'd reship it to her.
Would she win in a chargeback over this?

Are her initials S.N?
I recently had the same experience.

Nope. AW and then her "associate" is MT
What became of your transaction?
I've been very gracious and have bent over backwards (but never forward) since I began this new venture but I figure there comes a time when I've done what I was supposed to and shouldn't have to pay for someone else's $85.00 mistake

I would cut and paste the USPS DC information and send it to her.
Say no more, unless you like spending more time in a pickle jar.

The jury is still out. I suspect my customer did get her parcel but it's hard to be sure. Mine was addressed correctly.

Interesting discussion.
I have had two claims of nondelivery this month. Very unusual with my typical customer. I rarely have more than 2 a year. My listings state that insurance is optional and I will not be held responsible for lost or damaged shipments. Whether it will stand up under dispute or not, I don't really care.
If they are trying to scam me, they will have to work very hard for the money and merchandise.
Everything I mail has a DC. If it has not been scanned as delivered, I ask them to wait a few more weeks. If it still does not surface, I usually just reship the order provided there is no suspicious activity on their account. I believe most people are basically honest.
For shipments that show as delivered I personalize my canned response:
Hi Mxxx,
Thank you for quickly contacting me about your missing shipment. Your item was shipped to the PayPal address provided and was delivered (date).
Info provided by www.usps.com
USPS package xxxx (copy of the clickable link from google)
Shipped to
Buyer
street
city
zip
Please verify with other members of your household that they have not received the package. Please also contact your postman as packages are sometimes left on a side porch or at a neighbor's house, etc.
After trying the above measures, if you can still not locate your package, I will be happy to help you file a lost package claim with the USPS.
Sincerely,
Dianna
*** For reference, you can type the DC into goggle search and it will return a nice clickable link that you can insert into your email.
The postal form I reference can be found here -> Form 1510 (Mail Loss / Rifling Report) . I do not send the report link until they tell me that they have checked around for the package.

oops, I forgot that the USPS is discontinuing the form.
PS Form 1510, Mail Loss and Rifling Report, will become obsolete on June 1, 2007. Thereafter, customers who wish to report suspected mail theft or rifling must call 800-ASK-USPS or input the information online via the Postal Inspection Service’s Web site http://www.usps.com/postalinspectors .

I have noticed that on the notices from Paypal some of the numbers in an address are on the wrong line which totally changes the address. I have caught two like that. The first one I learned the hard way after I shipped the same package out wrong three times, I finally went to Paypal and saw that the address was printed totally different from what I was e-mailed.

MAH645:
I thought I was the only one that had that problem. I always need to recheck the address with Ebay's sold notice and directly on PayPal since the address comes out jumbled on my email notice. I thought it had something to do with my email service.

Shipping to wrong address
We have an expert here at work. Our shipper here ships to the wrong address a couple times a week. Sad thing is the boss still won't get rid of him.
I think he is going to open a university that specializes in shipping to the incorrect address.
