I have this large bag of these little darlings, and I have no idea how to prepare them. A clerk at the grocery store told me to broil them with brown sugar and a little butter. Is there some other way?

Our family likes them baked with butter and maple syrup. Or I cook them in a skillet with butter and maple syrup. If you want you can do the same thing in a microwave, but make sure they are overed. Happy Eating!

Hey, thanks! Do you bake them whole or cut them or slice them??? Do you cover them in the oven? I'm guessing 350 degrees for how many minutes? I like the maple syrup idea over brown sugar.

I am SO glad you asked this question because I always see them at Farmers Markets but didn't have a clue what to do with them!

If in the oven, you can cover with foil and yes, 350 degrees. You can cut them in half or leave as is, after washing them. Make sure you baste them to keep them moist with all the good stuff! This is the same way I cook sweet potatoes. Wash, slice, butter and syrup or brown sugar (per hubby, both is great)...Personally, I like a large skillet with a glass lid, so I can watch them and stir them to keep them basted and can add more butter or syrup or brown sugar as needed.

EDIT...cut lengthwise and clean out the seeds, seeds dry in microwave and put in bird feeder. Sorry, have a migraine and can't think straight. You can use this recipe on any squash!
