Is anyone else having problems with the USPS. I have had 4 problems in a little over a week.
I mailed a package here in the states (priority mail)..it has been about 8 days to go to Louisiana from NC.
I mailed an envelope to Maine 3 weeks ago..never got there.
I had an envelope mailed to me from SC several days ago..not arrived.
I had a money order mailed to me from TN over a week ago..never has arrived.

The post office mail might be a little backed up due to the Memorial Day weekend. I would suspect media (and similar) mail (items such as magazines, catalogs, etc) to be a little slow. That's the only reason I can think of.

Think it's bad now wait until it's privatized !!!
It'll be like an oil company, charging whatever they want because they can.
Want good service? Get a horse and some saddlebags, fill the bags with your mail, and start riding....after several miles of hard riding you will hand the saddlebags to another rider, this process goes on until the mail reaches it's destination.......this will prove to be much simpler and more efficient than the current method.

Neglus and I ship the same items. Her post office requires an extra 17 cents, claiming the semi-rigid envelope is rigid. Mine does not.

I'm having problems with DC's. Even on the ones I know that have been delivered, I'm getting "No information is available for this item. Please contact the sender". I can see this being a real problem!! I especially hate it because this is showing on more expensive items I've sold.

I ship almost exclusively by Priority mail. I got into a discussion with my favorite postal clerk about the new size/weight charges today.
She started out by stating that anything that doesn't fit into one of their 13" x 18" letter carrying boxes will be charged a premium.
I was mailing a 4lb 12" x 12" priority box, so I asked her to punch in 12" x 20" size to see what the cost would be. It came out the same as what the 12" x 12" box cost me.
I don't think anybody at the post office can give a clear statement on what the cost will be except the guy that programed the computer.

Mingo: I was under the impression that the P.O. has already been privatized. It's no longer an official US Govt. agency, right? Or was that just a dream?

This dimensional weight premium comes into play when it's over one cubic foot - measuring 12x12x12. If it's less, say 12 x 20 x 3 - it's weight-based.
Use the USPS web site to see the difference. It can be significant. Over the 1 cf and it's a minimum of 13lbs. So, can't imagine the costs of those tubes of packing peanuts. They used to ship those for $4.05 for each (because they ended up under a pound each) -- now they'd ship for 13 lbs. We're fortunate that we've located a local place to buy in bulk (We don't source recycled styrofoam any more. Too much time involved.)

I got tired of messing with the post office (at the other end, mine is fine).
I ship first class parcel, dc. I have a note on the label referencing the DMM section allowing dc on first class parcel.
Now, some packages scanned, some not. Package returned because no dc on first class anymore (wrong, this is a PARCEL). Customer charged for Priority mail because no dc on first class anymore (wrong, this is a parcel). The carriers don't know the difference between first class and a parcel. However I am paying more because my envelopes are now parcels.
So, heck with that. I just changed all my ebay (except for core that was running before my decision), vendio, blujay, and ecrater items to Priority mail only, $5.95 (that is what our two biggest sellers in my category are charging). Have not seen a slow down in purchases.
