Does anyone recognize this German dish? Caption on back: Beim Wastlbauern in Kolmberg. This one has me stumped. TIA.

Can you turn it upside down and let us read the writing at the top?

It doesn't look like fondue (they would have a fondue pot with flame underneath to keep the cheese warm) - doesn't look like raclette either. The oldest form of raclette was to heat the end of a wheel of cheese and scrape melted cheese on a plate. I don't see any plates either!
I will ask Emil tomorrow morning to see if he knows.

Emil didn't recognize it - probably not Swiss anyway. Can you do a close up of the lady's hand - she has something white in it? The bottom dish seems to be filled to the top with something chunky - but why would they eat from a common dish and not on plates and what is in the dish on the stand above the main one and why?? I wonder if it a dessert (cobbler kind of thing) with cream in the upper bowl?

Thanks, Beth. Best guess so far. Makes me hungry for one, too! I used to make these- I remember 6 eggs 5 minutes in the blender, a cup or two of flour and a half stick of butter melted in the pan before you add the batter, baked at 450 degrees. Yum!
