I'm bored. I've never seen this thread so let's give it a whirl

Sure you can buy IT on Ebay

Nothing is on TV - summer reruns and unlimited As Seen on TV commercials.

What have you bought? What have you wanted to buy? What works? What doesn't?

There's probably even a fellow VDer that sells the As Seen on TV stuff on Ebay.

I have a FlowBee that I've used for years to cut mine and my DH's hair. Love it. If you have short hair it really works!

Every time I go to open a new package I struggle with I wonder if that package opener really works?

LOVE LOVE LOVE the Tempur-Pedic bed. It is TRULY the most comfortable bed I've EVER slept in. Even the DH sleeps longer and better in it with his bad shoulders.

I bought a Shed-Ender for my very long haired cat. I love it, he is not so keen, but it really removes loads of loose hair, and keeps it out of the house.

With not much selling, I decided to "spring clean" my store. Went through the almost 500 items one by one. Removed about 30 that hadn't sold in a while, reduced prices on about a third of them. Found 2 where the pictures had mysteriously disappeared, and 2 that had sold, but somehow reappeared. It took me a whole day, but I feel good about getting it done.

Ginsu Knives!

don't we all have ginsu knives? I do. I forgot about those! My current favorite knife for the last 2 years has been one my daughter bought me from Pampered Chef with the sharpener. I use it every day. Before that...I used the Ginsu knives.

Oh - most/all of my stuff I don't buy on Ebay or TV - I buy it at yard sales. Sorry.

I did buy my second Flowbee direct from the company though - cheaper than Ebay at the time.

I've been a consumer lately! I bought 3 memory foam mattress toppers(I too sleep much better!) and a "Micro Glass Wizard as seen on TV" (Good Morning America consumer reporter gave it an A+ so had to try it) - it does work but who can get excited about washing windows?

OK, I'll admit I bought, or should say I fell for, the Spin Spa (on eBay)
No good, piece of junk. If you press hard for a good scrub is slows down to a near stop. It's also very heavy/bulky with a lot of useless attachments that clutter up your bathroom.

Also on eBay, I bought the Ronco Showtime Rotisserie about 5 years ago & have to give it rave reviews, a perfect 10.
I will never be without one & it makes the best chicken you've ever tasted, no comparison to roasted in the oven. Makes great shish kabobs too.

Another winner, the Swivel Sweeper, (battery operated carpet sweeper)love it.
Read a very good review in Readers Digest.
I bought this on Amazon, signed up for their credit card, you get 30.00 off your purchase.
Does what it says it will do & is great on carpets, wood & tile floors.

A few years ago also bought the stupid Egg Wave. What a mess to clean up.

My son bought me a George Forman grill. He likes his, I don't like mine.

Little giant ladder - don't know how I'd use it in my apartment, but if I win the lottery, I'll buy it for all my family!

glassgrl,

I misunderstood the premise of the thread; I thought it was about whether or not we had purchased anything recently on eBay.

I guess it proves what my grandfather always taught me: Anybody dumb enough to buy 6 hitching posts is dumb enough not to understand a thread's premise.

Not on eBay, but from QVC. The Ful-Sol window cleaner kit. FABULOUS--and wonderful to reach those high windows in your house. Attach the bottle of cleaner to your hose. Spray the window with the cleaner, wait 30 seconds, spray it with clear water (there's a button to control this). The spray is good and strong and reaches high up. The window dries quickly with sheeting action and looks great. My husband also uses it to wash the cars.

We paid $200 for guys to hang from rock-climbing ropes to reach the outsides (only) of the windows in our house and guest house. The Ful-Sol is only a few dollars and lasts a good while.

I was pulling your leg cash! Ok, so let's open it up to whatever you bought.

(but still....6 hitching posts? Well - that could be nice to have if I had a horse. There's GOT to be a pony somewhere in all that manure huh?)

George Foreman grill - check - I've got that one. Use it every now and then for grilled sandwiches and pork chops.

Ronco showtime rotisserie - check - I've got that one too. DH loves it - I hate to clean it. I still pull it out every now and again but not so much since we got the Holland Grill at a yard sale.

glass,

You haven't by chance read "There must be a pony!" by Jim Kirkwood? If not, I would pick up a copy. Wonderful.

Regarding the hitching posts... as I said, it was my wife's idea. We installed a circular drive recently, with nice old cobblestones (from the West Side Highway, according to the landscapers). Anyway, there are times when people have parties nearby, and everyone turns around in our driveway, which we wouldn't mind if they would stay ON the driveway, but apparently backing up is something people don't learn to do before they get their license nowadays, and [I'm almost out of breath] she decided that we could put a chain across the driveway when it appears that we're going to get a lot of unauthorized driveway users. She used to be a rider, and had a horse, so it isn't COMPLETELY insane

Anyway, even though they're repros, they don't look half bad.

We've been doing a lot of work on the house and property, fighting the whole way not to have it look like every other house around here... cobblestones, large stone walls, rough steps, antique bricks, indigenous plantings, no pea gravel, no manicured lawn, etc. Well, the damned hitching posts don't look like every other house around here

PS I wish I knew where my copy of "There Must Be a Pony!" was. I looked on Amazon, and a worn copy is going for $72! Whodathunkit?

speaking of uninvited people - well they weren't really uninvited but you know how it is - you marry - you inherit the family also.

phew! peace and quiet at last after 5 days. it's true that fish and guests start to stink after 3 days.

dear lord let me never be one of those guests.

2 adults, 3 teenage boys. $80.00 worth of junk food, no telling how many cases of canned drinks - at least 8 or maybe 10 (eewh how horrible for your system is that?)

peace at last.

thanks for letting me vent

ps cash - OH it makes sense now. I can picture it and 6 hitching posts make a lot more sense than what they would use around here.

We have 2 neighbors that have chains across their driveways, I may be next as there is an inordinate amount of traffic on our dead end street ( that use to be nice and quite) I bet I get at least 6 pull ins a day just to back out and turn around and more than half at night causing my TV watching to be disturbed with the glare of their lights. Of course I am just a wissy old man and lots of things bother me lately.

I bought a thingy goes in your window to suck out hot air in your auto forgot its name but it is a dud and cost too much for what it is--essentially a small computer type fan comes on from a solar power source and that panel that runs it has to be in direct sunlight to even work. Which it does not keep your car cooler at all. JOKE

For the good stuff I got a case for a laptop size hardrive for less than $10.00 on Ebay and it works great now I have another external storage system for my laptop or desk PC.

The wife got a like new air filter upright type fan with ionizer at an auction it works like new and was a bargin at $10.00.

My mom got those picture hangers that just leave a pin-sized hole in your wall. Great, except that shipping was $15. In fact, all of the add-ons the automated ordering system suggested were $15. My mom was so frustrated by the never ending pitch of additional items (with no way to end it) that she hung up. Now she gets additional hangers every month or so with $15 charged to her credit card.

Pixix - She didn't tell me that! She had some on the dining room table and I commented on how cool they were and she said "take some if you want them" (darnit! I forgot to take some!)- didn't know she had an endless LOL supply!
