Last weekend I have a sale where the Buyer was able to fill out there own shipping rates. For instance I had my settings set to Priority Calculated, Parcel Cal., and Priority Fixed. The Pr. Fixed was for the flat rate box $8.95. I had each additional $1.50 for Handling. Well somehow he when through eBay's checkout and was able to only pay $8.95. I am not out anything and I am not mad but I am just wondering how he got through to be able to fill out his own rate. I have it fixed on eBay to where they can't do that.

Thanks

The only thing I can figure is that you really did have the thing left 'unchecked' that the buyer could figure their own shipping.

... hmmm. the mysteries of eBay.

2 things you need to be aware of with the new and <cough> improved shipping function.

1. Make sure your account is set to not allow the buyer to edit the shipping charges.

You can check the setting in your eBay preferences under Payment from buyers;Allow buyers to edit payment totals.

2. Ebay has changed their calculated shipping rule when a buyer purchases multiple items from the same listing. They IGNORE your combined shipping rule! If you have specified a handling fee in your listing, it is only applied once. This means that if you specify a $1.50 handling fee it is only applied to the first item and will not be applied to anything else on the order. This stinks and I have cmplained multiple times and have yet to receive a satisfactory response from eBay.

I've been selling for over 3 years. And I know to check those things. And that's the first thing I thought I had the eBay settings messed up. Or sometimes they magically reset. But they are all set correctly. I don't know how he did it but he did.
