I finally went through the last of my dad's stuff that I found in the garage (getting ready for the G.Sale, I did a pretty thorough clean up) He worked for ATSF railroad. Wrapped in brown paper I found railroad schedules, menus and more. Toss? G. Sale (It's a definite for this coming weekend) or ebay? I don't see anything on ebay like these. I need your expertise
Thanks ahead of time

Hi Linda,
I'd put them on Ebay. I have had great success with Railroad items. Depending on the research, you can group them or place individually on Ebay. I would group myself.

Hi-
I come from a family that had multiple members that were employed by diferent railroads & railroad organizations over teh years. This kind of thing is very collectible. You can get some very good money for the right item. Make sure you spell out the names of the railroad involved.

There should be a good demand for older railroad items.
I'd list them under postcards and paper.

Linda, I would think the menus would bring a good price. Don't toss, list them.

Quite a market for railroad menus on eBay.
Do a search. Now if you had the railroad sterling silver menu holders up for auction, WOW.
One menu started at $24.99, closed at $283.00 on July 15.

1926 Illinois Central Railroad - Dawson Springs KY Map [/url]
Dawson was famous in the early 1900's for it's mineral water wells. Today the town is only about 2500 people so Dawson memorabilia brings some good money. 2 recent auctions for unique post card views went over $ 100 each.

One of my first selling experiences on eBay (back in the good old days) was some railroad items that belonged to my father. There were several metal luggage tags and a metal badge from a porters hat. I expected a few dollars for them. The luggage tags from the big, existing railroads did well but the shocker to me was the porter's badge and luggage tag from a small, defunct railroad. They ended for hundreds of dollars each! Yikes! I wrote the winner and asked why. He told me that he and another collector were in fierce competition for items from this railroad. When I said I wished I had more of the same he said that they would only go for a few dollars. Once one of them had an example of an item there would be no competition. That was a good lesson to learn for a new seller.
Good luck with your auctions, Paloma.

Interesting Photo. Perhaps this is why Second Chance Offers are often declined? I always thought that the person should be happy to get the item at the lower price, but they know that a relist would go for a much lower price!

If they were mine - I would list them individually. Start at a low price like $9.99 and what doesn't sell - you can always group later. You could very well have an item or two that two collectors will fight over like photosensitive said. Things are often overlooked in lots.
