So I get this email about a necklace with diamond-cut beads:
"This necklace looks lovely, however I must ask you a question: I have a severely mentally retarded sister, and the only thing that brings joy to her life is very sparkly jewelry. Could you be honest with me and tell me if this piece really has the sparkle it appears to have in the picture? I can't afford to make mistakes and buy her things that aren't what will really make her happy."
So I wrote back and patiently (for me) explained that when silver is diamond-cut it creates a surface that reflects light brilliantly, so yes, it is just as sparkly as the picture if not more so. The problem with photographs of jewelry, in fact, is that it is often hard to capture all the sparklies.
Truth to tell I was a little annoyed by her email because of the "could you be honest with me" -- yeah, sure, I've made a habit of lying to people over the last eight years and that's how I got all that feedback. Also, it's TMI, and TMI usually spells T-R-O-U-B-L-E, as in "Hello. I'm going to enter your life, refuse to leave and be a holy pain in the keister without spending any money. It's just what I do."
So she writes back today, yelling at me about not having responded to her previous email (ever hear of a SPAM folder?) and now wanting to know if the beads are hollow?
Well, gosh gollity, I imagine they probably are, but how would that affect the sparkliness? I give a gram weight for pure silver items, so it's not like I'm hiding anything.
Fortunately someone else won the necklace.
Add that to the loon who wanted me to give HER a discount for paying by PayPal, the raging cold I've had for five days now and the general state of exhaustion and I'm sorry, but I'm pretty crabby today.

Look on the bright side...at least you had images with your auctions ending today

That's true. What a pain. How many of your auctions were hit?
Didn't I hear of someone once who used an alternate image server just in case this issue came up? It was a long time ago, but she had a link in her auctions that said "If you don't see the picture, click here".
I think it was a Swiss German who told me the cure for a cold is to sit back in your recliner, put your hat on one foot and drink your favorite adult beverage until you see two hats.

Saw my proctologist today. Was the bright spot in a crappy day. What a PITA!

I had an email today, 23 days after they received the item (a relatively high-end tape deck). We accept returns if we're contacted within 7 days; with a nice email, we'll extend it a week or so sometimes.
Anyway, the tape deck worked, but it had something called "tape binding", which the owner had indicated, but which I couldn't replicate (it worked fine for me). The sale was listed as an "AS IS" sale.
The email says the tape deck doesn't work, I had it repaired for $254, please send me $254. First time we'd heard from the jerk. There's probably a negative coming, but no money coming from me (one reason it went for only $400 is that we indicated the intermittent tape binding problem).
ARRGGGHHH!
PS I got someone else to write the email; I would have gone medieval on him.

Is this the Swiss-German who gave you the cure for a cold by chance?
I live with a Swiss-German and he has teas for everything - and if that doesn't work, Schnapps (not the sweet peppermint kind)will do the trick.
I caught twice by the Vendio outage - all my listings for European cards (two were being competitively bid) ended during the first outage and then my Eastern US ones ended during the second. The worst part is that I wasn't able to list very many cards (between outages) to end next week. SIGH Got up at 3:30 to get an early start on the day too.
Sorry your day wasn't too great either. Hope you are feeling better (and that the hangover isn't too bad).

Great card!
One of my daughter's college professors gave her this "blend" to help with a flu. J had been to the doctor several times and it just kept getting worse. (It was almost a month!) It actually worked!
Now I pick wild Yarrow (it's almost ready) and dry it...just in case.
