Hi, y'all: A couple of weeks I sold two more--for a total of $275. One was another Jerry Lewis card, and the second was an Elvis card, wonderful item, which you all predicted I could retire on. But it went for just $105, oddly.
I have a few more up for sale starting tonight, including a great Elvis card, and I'm hoping they'll bring more. I think I got spoiled that first batch, when one sold for $921!!!
Still, on my initial $20 investment, I've made $1,975 thus far. Not too shabby.

yup roadsmith, that's great, I wish we could all score like than now and then !!
Like the old days. Bought a 1 1/2 clay jug with some advertisement on it about 5 years for 1.00 and it brought 550. so I know the feeling. A few smaller buys later on but not like that.

jmho; i think they (elvis & jerry lewis) would have gone for a lot more if you had started them real low, no reserve, just like you did the 'none-the-wiser' with the first batch you put up for auction.

I'm sure you're right about starting them lower with no reserve. As I recall, I put a reserve on just two of them this time; I'm probably afraid, knowing their relative value, of starting too low. But that's faulty thinking, isn't it! Worked the first time around.
About starting them in the fall: I have so many that I decided to take my chances in the summertime.
The Mariska Hargitay card is one I'm hoping will attract the fans. So far there are quite a few hits, no bids of course. Here it is:

He is cute but my goodness, he has 12 year old girl handwriting. At first I thought the dots above the i's were little hearts. Not exactly a turn on.
"Would it make any sense to wait on some of the more famous ones until the Fall?"
I was wondering the same thing. They would make excellent Christmas gifts.

The Elvis card is too cool.
I think if you add a few more keywords to the description, (like santa claus, horse, german shephard (sp?), dog and uniform, to name a few) you will get more hits.
Edited: I see uniform now, sorry. Is that Col Parker in santa mufti?

Oh HECK! Just learned that it isn't Mariska Hargitay in the photo, but her older sister Jayne. I've ended the auction, since I'm unable to revise the description ("your browser doesn't support javascript!" - dang that Firefox.
I'll relist with the correct information.

it sure DID work "first time around"!... big time! heck you've already made so very much profit from the original purchase. if it was me, i'd just "let 'em go" ... 9.99 and under, like the first batch. ... just my gut feeling... and just MHO ...

Edited to add: The girl in the picture looks older than the two little boys. Based on Deichen's comments, she probably IS the older half-sister. Sure does resemble Mariska, though...

Mariska (Ma-rish-ka) Magdolna Hargitay was born on January 23, 1964, in Santa Monica, California. Her parents are Mickey Hargitay and Jayne Mansfield. She is the youngest of their three children. In June 1967, Mariska and her brothers Zoltan and Mickey Jr. were in the back seat of a car when it was involved in the fatal accident which killed her mother. The children escaped with minor injuries.
