I expect my web site to go live around August 30.
The purpose of the site is NOT to sell my jewelry, though if one wanted to buy my stuff it's not that hard to find.
The actual idea is to funnel people to eBay and collect a commission (from eBay) for each sale made and each new registration that originates on my site.
As part of the site content I am doing "Recommended eBay seller" blocks. These are sellers I have either done business with or feel that I know well enough to recommend to my customers.
If you are a jewelry seller (or sell related items like beads, findings, books, etc.) and want to be featured in a "Recommended" block, post here or email me at [email protected]. Include one or two photos of jewelry you feel is typical of the quality and beauty of your goods. Doesn't have to be jewelry that is currently for sale.

the only thing I see you might want to add is an obvious back to the home page. I finally figured out that clicking on the Clearance Clarence would take me back there but there are those that are not so internet savvy. Maybe a nice little HOME link. Just a thought. Otherwise it looks very nice!

I am confused!
How are you going to drive traffic to your website so those who have never heard of Ebay or not registered with Ebay can follow the link to Ebay and earn you some $$??(commish $$$ from Ebay).
I would think since you sell mostly on Ebay, most of 'your customers' are already Ebay registered?

Ever hear of search engines? Links from other sites, like, oh, I don't know, sites that are all about FREE STUFF?
I know it's a stretch, but I'm betting that my current customers have sisters, brothers, mothers, fathers, aunts, uncles, cousins, next door neighbors, letter carriers and dental hygenists. Or some combination thereof.

I have a shop for years, first it was on Rubylane and then I moved to Yahoo.
Back then Google and Yahoo were chums,so I get traffic/revenue from Google and of course from Yahoo shopping.
Yahoo cant make up its mind how to milk Yahoo shops,it keeps making changes and they finally bought Overture to finetune their search and start charging 'pay per click'.
Results for some of us are 'pathetic',I have yet to hear a success story on how Overture makes anyone rich!
On the contrary,Overture makes some of us poor since we are now paying for all the scam orders from Indonesia and Nigeria!
Anyway, these days Yahoo does nothing but just host my shop for 39.99 and most of my orders came from Google and referrals.
My shop has been on the web for 10 years and well indexed, this is probably why it is showing up well on Google search( I dont pay for Google search).
I would not send anyone to Ebay and turn them in to dumpster divers,if they are not already!
Good luck!

On the topic of linking to other sites, there was a time you are nobody unless you are linking to someone who link to someone etc, kind of like a clique.
Yahoo shopowners are techies and yuppies who study meta tags and links and bend HTML codes and talk about their shops at cocktail parties.
Then they found out there is such thing as too much of a good thing-too much cross linking sinks the boat,it reduces your relevance rating and are like deadweights which slowly sink the BISMARCK!
Few of us know exactly how these search engines work,if you do,share with us!

I think what you are doing is a great idea, and I would think it will work well for you. It would be easier if your buyers visited your site each day rather than searches on E-Bays site, which don't work half the time. I visit one of my wholesellers website everyday just to see what the specials are. I love the way they have done their site,so easy to shop. Hope you do great with this and keep us posted.

All you guys are doing is to send traffic back to Ebay.
Here is your big chance to gang up together and quit Ebay!

You're missing the big picture, Stop.
We are sending traffic to eBay and *getting paid for it*. I get commissions on sales and I don't have to buy, stock, list, pack or ship any of that stuff.
I have said it for years but it bears repeating: Putting up your own web store doesn't work unless you spend time and money tirelessly marketing it. eBay spends about $100 million per quarter (not year) on marketing. Part of their marketing effort is lavishly paying affiliates like me. Take a look at the payout page:
