I just saw an announcement on eBay that says they're eliminating Listing Fees for items listed at $9.99 if you buy Gallery (which we do)... and 25% off if you list at $10.00 or over.

And... get this!

It's not for one or 2 days!

It's from Thursday through the ENTIRE MONTH of September!

Whoda Thunk It?

hmmm I have mixed feelings about this...no more relist credits BUT listings will cost me 5 cents less. Still not convinced the sell through is better with gallery than without. I guess they are trying to find a way to enhance the buying experience without absolutely killing the sellers.

Yeah, but you have to pay the Gallery fees. Big whoop. If you buy Gallery anyhow, then you save a few quarters.

Biz: "for items listed at $9.99"--does that mean no more than $9.99? Just need some clarification.

25% off listing fees for over $10.00 starting price if you use gallery. The free is only for $9.99 and under but it still is a savings. This one is right up my alley. I mostly list $9.99 and almost always use gallery. It will save me .40 each listing for a month!!!

i have mixed feelings about this one too. i am not fond of using gallery. i think a well-written title will entice people into looking. at least, well-written titles have that effect on me. i'll have to crunch some numbers, but this doesn't seem like much of an enticement to list extra stuff on eBay.

now, if they would do something like - 20 cent listings across the board - that would make me perk up. i don't know why they can't see that we see through these little shell games they play with us. but they long ago ceased to startle me with their poor business practices. they have no one but themselves to blame for their dysfunctional website, completely inadequate customer service, etc., etc. i'm sorry, i just can't get enthused about anything at eBay. i think i flatline when i think of ebay

We use Gallery with all of our items - vintage and new - because it's what does set us apart from the crowd of others who struggle to get good images for their listings.

That's not a crack on anyone here, but we will select an item to view based on the gallery. Very rarely if ever have I looked at an item without a gallery image.

It's like having a good business card or resume, I guess. Some will say it only matters whether you can do the job. But, it's the good first impression that might make a difference between getting a second look.

I guess you can't please everyone, huh?

But, for those who hate to list when there's a promo because the increase in items dilutes the pool -- this should be interesting since it's going to last for so long...

Say What?

What.

For those times in September when I will be able to list, this will save me 25 or 40 cents per item. I use Gallery 99% of the time.

So that's a $25 to $40 savings per hundred items listed at $9.99 or less.

I'll take it.

This plan works for me, as well.
I have gallery on ALL of my auctions.
I am relatively confident that the *mandatory gallery* will keep away the masses of cheap items (or prevent 'diluting the pool' as familybiz puts it!)
*let's hope for a bidding frenzy*

September has always been an excellent month for jewelry and for us. In fact, it continues pretty strong up to Thanksgiving.

Sept 30th is the end of the quarter for Ebay's financial report. I think the quarterly listings as a whole must have been low enough to Ebay to need to do something more drastic to encourage listings than they have in the past. Apparently one or two days did not accomplish enough.

This promo does not really help me. I do not use gallery, and most of my items are not under $9.99.

Yes, the 20 cent or better listing fee would perk me up too, but this is not for me.

Prediction: Early next year the now 40 cent fee will be increased to 70 cents and include gallery. They will tout what a great "deal" it is.

Jake, Your killin me! We get a bit, O a wee bit of a break and you killed my buzz LOL. You do make a good point I am sure they will. I like using gallery so it'll save me some cash for now.
