My guess is you haven't checked out the price of gallery.
Not so free anymore.

Gallery hasn't been free for a long, long time. If you already use Gallery and think it enhances your sales, this is a savings. If you do not think Gallery makes any difference, then this is not the promo for you. The 25% discount on items priced over 9.99 does not cover the cost of the Gallery upgrade in most cases.

I don't mean this in a mean way, but don't be so dense. Your thread says listing fees. I stated that they're not so free with gallery. It's a proven fact that gallery does NOT increase sales. Just increases eBay's profits.

Stone - It depends upon what you sell. I sell jewelry and I also buy it. I rarely look at an auction that doesn't have a gallery photo in the jewelry category. I've found that for what I sell, gallery works.

Works for me too! Yippee!
We always use Gallery and most items start under $10.00.
As I was about to start ramping up listings in September it will save me a lot.
When I am looking to buy I don't click on anything that doesn't have Gallery but then I am mostly browsing not looking for a specific item.

I did better than I hoped on this earlier this month so I'm going to take advantage.
I may use this for core listing and put the better stuff directly in the store to be pulled when needed.
If you plan right - ebay's promotes can do some good - but I still like the 20 cents listings the best - that way I pick the price.

Hmmm. I'm thinking instead of relists, sending select store to core for one listing only, then back to store if unsold. I liked the last promo, but found that saving 5 cents in first lists cost me 8 cents in relists.

You gotta do what works for you. I do think Ebay is at least trying new promos. I will give them credit for that.

Well this works for me, I was planning to start up selling again sometime in September anyway. Now I can use gallery and still pay about same as if I didn't use the gallery, only it will show the image for me now.
If any of you use firefox you don't have to worry about seeing the image in search as there is a program attaches to the browser that shows images in search if there is a camera icon just like if everyone who puts an image on is suing the gallery... Best addon I ever found....I got the link right here at Vendio but didn't search for the link if you know how to find past post it is here.
Edited to add if you know where it is and name of the plugin please repost it here I can't find it now and want to bookmark it for incase situations.

The phrase you are looking for is "eBay toolbar firefox". Try Google. Much easier than trying to search Vendio.
Oh hell, I'm such a softie.

It is not perfect. You will get errors in some situations. But it's pretty useful.

Unless of course you are intent on SUING the Gallery then it won't work!
Sorry, couldn't resist!

There are some items I sell that I doubt would get any bids without Gallery, in my opinion its a must for some items, in my case handmade diaper bags and quilts.

LOL, sorry about the misspelled word (using) and putting suing in its place. I did not edit as I thought it funny when I came back and read otters reply.
Thanks Fluff, when I read about the toolbar at Firefox on their information page it didn't say anything about the image exposure like the page you posted. Yep that is the one I was looking for.

I just tried sending store to core. Items are less than $10 with gallery. Ebay says I'll be charged $.40 listing fee plus $.35 gallery. What am I doing wrong?
Edited to add, I guess eBay's Bulk lister isn't showing the discount but the discount was given.

Guess I will have to further explain it.
None special listings.
Normal listing fee --- .40
No Gallery --- .00
Total --- .40
Special listings.
Normal listing fee --- .00
Gallery fee --- .35
Total --- .35
And lower sell through rate.
It simply doesn't justify listing any extra listings than you would normally do anyway.

"Guess I will have to further explain it."
Yup, need more explanation than what you provided.
Many, many people have this as their regular fees:
Listing Fee: 40
Gallery: 35
Total: 75
Promo:
Listing Fee: 0
Gallery: 35
Total: 35
Savings: .40
Still waiting for the proof that "Gallery does NOT increase sales."
Many people appear to differ with you and routinely use Gallery. If you chose not to, this is not the promo for you.

Don't even bother trying to channel me. You don't have the, er, stones for it.
And you're wrong, as Merrie points out.
Gallery is widely used everywhere I look on eBay. Barrel-scrapers like coupon sellers usually don't use it and commodity sellers -- where everyone knows what the commodity looks like -- don't either.
But good luck trying to sell most anything else without using Gallery.

I happened to see the ebay announcement in my email and it is VERY misleading. It does say "No LISTING Fees in Sept" but it is not until you open the email that it says you have to purchase gallery and the free insertion fee is only on items starting less than 9.99
Shame you on eBay!
I bet if an ebay seller had an auction and the Title said YADA YADA is Free this month and then wrote in the description that the item was free with an additional purchase, ebay would pull the listing in a heart beat.

Looking at auction counts, it does not appear that the listing promo for Sept has changed #s dramatically, year over year.
I know it is still early. Perhaps people are waiting until later in the month??

I am not so sure this is as much of an attempt by ebay to get listing numbers up as it is a test of some of their search (I mean "finding" experiments. Users on the French site are now REQUIRED to use gallery. I look for that to be the rule here too before long. They are probably looking for a pricing threshold as well.

Neglus: I did not know that about French listings. How does the pricing plan out with Gallery as a requirement? I assume it is a flat rate with Gallery included.

1 to 9.99 euros, insertion is .35 -- or about 48c. Gallery is listed as "free." So, less than US combined fee.
