Hi, all: I have a book I want to sell on eBay about the Isle of Manx, but nowhere can I find in its first few pages any hint of which country owns it. Or is it just part of Great Britain? (Embarrassing not to know stuff like that.)
I'm hoping someone can tell me. Thanks in advance. ~Adele

We lived close to the Isle of Man, it's about 60 miles of the coast of Lancashire. The Island is a unique self-governing kingdom - a Crown dependency which belongs to neither the UK nor the European Union. It has its own parliament (called Tynwald), laws, traditions, culture, cuisine and postage stamps. It is 33 miles long, 13 miles wide and covers an area of 227 square miles. More than 40% of the Island is uninhabited.
The famous TT motor cycle races are held there, and that is where the tailess Manx cats originated.

Thanks, all! There are references in the first chapter to Scottish-type place names, which confused me. I was hoping the Isle was assoc. with Ireland and I could sell it near St. Patrick's Day. Alas.
