Since getting a new computer with Windows Vista in the spring, I've been unable to upload a whole group of pictures into Vendio through "publish to web"--WindowsVista does not have that capability! In their great wisdom, they decided it wasn't used by enough people, etc. Grrr.

Since that time, I've had to download a group of pictures to a disk, go to another room where my husband's computer is, and "publish to web" there. What a nuisance.

Many Vista users have complained to no avail and have begged Vista to get this added. HOWEVER,if someone here knows something I don't know (a very likely chance!), please let me know.

P.S. I can upload pictures to Vendio one at a time, but that's very time-consuming.

More and more I'm seeing good enough reasons not to upgrade to Vista. I don't use Vendio. I have my own domain name and have it hosted through GoDaddy. I use an FTP program to upload all my pictures. Takes no time at all and in all they years I've been with GoDaddy, they've gone down once for about an hour or so.

I purchased a new PC and a new laptop recently.
I needed a new PC and my old laptop was on its last breath.
So , during tax-free weekend,I puchased a PC and laptop. Both came with Vista Premium .

I am saying this without malice ---I absolutely despise Vista. It does not accept a lot of my software and even Endicia will not run correctly with it. Dazzle hates Vista!
My camera software hates it! Zebra hates it!

Some may love it but for me it has been a trek through hades!

I keep on though trying to tweak it, slowly but surely.

This is just my experience.

it's been 4 or more weeks since I got my new computer with Vista and I'm STILL trying to get XP dual booted on it. I don't work on it every day and for the most part I'm not using the new computer due to Vista.

My router won't work on Vista, my internet provider modem doesn't work with Vista and nothing I have and I do mean NOTHING works with Vista.

You can't just delete Vista and install XP. Funny - I never thought about that before I bought it.

I feel your pain, deur! Do you list and host pix through Vendio? There seems to be no fix for that, alas. In its arrogance, Microsoft just decided (what 12-year-old, though?) that people just don't need the publish to web function any longer--that most of us use some other new-fangled method. Wrong.

My husband says he'll trade computers with me, if necessary, even though his is older, rather than go through the UNinstalling necessary to get back to Windows XP. Grrr.

Last Christmas I bought both my sons a Gateway laptop, with Windows XP, & they received a phone number & code for a free Vista.

One son installed it & had nothing but problems. He was lucky he could dump it & reinstall XP.

If glassgrl with her knowledge is having problems then something is really wrong.

I try not to get the first versions of any software. Usually I find the first versions are loaded with bugs and incompatiblities. Nine times out of ten software is released before all the bugs are worked out. In another life I worked for a software company in the QA. They were always doing releases just like this. It's very common.

We had the same complaints about windows xp not too long ago

There are fixes for this out there for those who are computer savvy - I have Vista and use Vendio, and it's a major nightmare - I spent 4 hours trying to figure out why I couldn't publish to web, only to find that Vista just does not have that capability. I googled and searched and found that if you go in to a directory or program or something, you can make some changes and get this function.

I forgot how to post a link, haven't been on the boards for a while - but one fix is at this site: http://blogs.zdnet.com/Berlind/?p=664
that may work for uploading to Vendio, rather than just Kodak gallery as they mention. Google "Publish Photos to web with Vista fix" and see if you can come up with anything more.

I cannot stand Vista - I really regret getting it.

Vista is be a great program for any new software going forward.
It is the future but dealing with it with yesterday's software is another scene.

Endicia, Zebra, Canon Cameras, HP Printers even Microsoft Office Professional that I use will need drivers and updates.
They will eventually get to it .
Meanwhile back in the real world , we are using the XP.
I just do not have the time to fiddle with it again today.

The laptop and PC are scary fast .. really they are! They were packed with lots of bloatware,I uninstalled that junk . I had no trouble getting online and surfing.

Zebra launched a new driver Sept 10th that is supposed to work with Vista. I may try it today --- if I have time .
Endicia says they are working hard to get their programs Vista friendly .

Vista is today and tomorrow .
The problem is most of our software is yesterday.

I try to keep a smile cuz there is little more I can do.
Meanwhile my brand new top notch PC's main function is to set and look pretty.

Caroline , Roadsmith, and everyone else

I despise it with a royal passion! That is how I really feel!!

However on a the logical side, the software and programs we have will eventually (unless they are very old) update to Vista.

Vista was released at the end of January 2007.

Dell is still selling both laptops and desktops equipped with XP. It is now 8 months after Vista's release.

8 months is an eternity in the computing world.

I'll be buying a new laptop soon and it will be a Dell.

Update :

I now have my scanner/ printer , and my Zebra label printer and Endicia working with Vista

Gosh, I am so glad someone started this thread. It motivated moi to get back on my quest to get these in step with Vista!

Getting online was a 60 second project so I am clueless as to why that would have been an issue. I am sorry Glassgrl, but have you called your provider?
I have ATT -DSL and AOL Broadband .. no problem all the network went in sync like instantly - 2 PC's one Vista , one XP, and Vista Laptop.

I purchased a Vista ready Dell just days before the Vista release. It came with 2GB of RAM, and I added 750GB of hard drive to the 325GB which came with it.

I just did not want to learn a new system at this time. I'm glad that I did not purchase a Vista ready system, as Microsoft will be supporting XP for a few more years.

Fluffy - I have a Dell. I had problems in the beginning, but now it's great. If you have a business license, buy through the business part of Dell. Regular consumers have to deal with India for support, business customers do not. They have support here in the states. The next one I buy will be a Dell, but I'm getting it through their business department. I hate talking to anyone in India about a problem I'm having here in the states.

you don't have to have a business license to buy from Dell Small Business.

Thanks, glassgrl. I always thought you did. That's why I didn't buy that way the last time. See, you learn something new every day!
