While going through her father's WWII items, a friend found a calling card from Heinrich Himmler and wondered if it would be allowed on eBay. I checked the eBay rules re: WWII prohibited items and think it probably would not be allowed. According to her, all it has is the name and, underneath that, Reichstag...SS. Before I gave her a definite answer, I thought I'd check with folks here. What do you think? Thanks...

I don't think so. Items belonging or affiliated with former Nazi leaders are verboten.

Herr Ralphie von Dawg says yer item is probably verbotten! on feeBay, but he would check with major auction houses such as Chisties(sp?) or sites such as:

Just heard from my friend...Just thought I'd add an interesting side note...Her dad (he was a colonel during WWII) got possession of Goering's Mercedes! He was going to bring it back to the "States" with him but one of his troops took the engine out "to do repairs" and never returned it! So, her dad couldn't drive it to the port and, I guess, didn't have any other way to get it out. She has a photo of her dad with the car! I'll probably include a copy of the photo with the card as a "bonus". Toolhound...I'll ask my friend what kind of price she's thinking. I did look on the "German" site Tom mentioned...There's a sheet of Himmler's stationery on auction with an opening bid of $200. I'll check with her and e-mail you with info. Anyway, thought the Mercedes story was interesting.

blueeyes:
I'm guessing that your item is worth CONSIDERABLY more than $200 and should be PROFESSIONALLY verified & appraised, which is why I mentioned Chisties...
There are many genuine history buffs and (sadly) also many sickos who collect THIRD REICH MEMORBILIA, and yours sounds like a real find...
As Ralphie der Hund says: "Get it APPRAISED!"

Thanks so much for your expertise, Tom...I'm amazed that the card might be worth more than $200...WOW! My friend is mailing the card to me and, once I get it, can do some more research and, perhaps, contact Christie's. If it does turn out to be a real treasure, my friend will be absolutely delighted! I do appreciate your taking the time to educate me as to its possible value...

Hey! Ralphie's the EXPERT! I sure ain't!
OTOH: I just did not want you to rush out and accept the first offer close to $200 for an item that MIGHT auction for considerably more...Or, it could be very common (although I doubt that) and $200 is a GREAT price...
All which boils down to: get an expert opinion from someone who KNOWS and can verify both authenticity AND "value," remembering that Ralphie doesn't know his elbow from his arse...

Ai! Carrumba!
Vat a cat fight over the DUMPKOFF CHICKEN FARMER'S calling card!
But it does reinforce what we said about having an "expert" validate yer item -- Although Ralphie may (or may not) be an "expert" on MONKEY PORN and HERBAL VIAGRA, I wouldn't believe a word of his when it comes to serious ephemera!

I would say it would likely not be allowed on ebay, but it is allowed on epier.

What is the rush to sell the card? In fact, why even sell the card?
Here are some points to consider: (1) the card was something her father felt was important to hold onto for a long time; and (2) card could be displayed along with the picture of her father standing beside Himmler's car. This is what a family history is all about.
The card has value, which will only increase in the future. I would not rush to sell the card.

Lots of auctions seem to use the work Nazi. Here is one mentioning Nazi flags: 120136702301.
