I've been using DSI for about 1 year now - just had my first claim which did not go well, I'm not happy with them - does anyone have any recommendations on another company that they would recommend? Thanks in advance!

If you print postage with either ENDICIA or STAMPS.COM, they both offer branded 3rd-party insurance (ENDICIA's is run thru U-PIC), which is extremely easy to use and cheap...

Or, just goto U-PIC on yer own here:

It's a shame that DSI ain't what they used to be (??) -- I was very happy with them when I used to use them

I'll check them out - I had forgotten about stamps.com - which I use. Thanks!

Can you share your experience with DSI? Like Tom, we've used them for some time now and have only ever had one claim that was paid in a timely fashion - but then I had a helpful buyer and we do everything online so it was easy to scan, upload docs to the claim, etc.

I am interested in others experience with claims though - because other than the ease of submitting our shipping log and paying monthly, it's pretty simple. It's the claims process that will set someone apart - and if you'd be willing to share the details, it might help all of us.

I had a claim recently with DSI that involved a broken Rose Medallion bowl - although the process was much better than the post office's - that's not saying much.

I had to get the buyer to photograph the broken bowl, the interior packaging and the exterior packaging - which took some time. If you don't have a cooperative buyer you're up the creek, because meanwhile, the buyer has made a claim to Paypal and received a refund from them, so they are not exactly motivated to jump through these hoops. You also have to complete the form, send it to them, and then get it to DSI.

It was a major pain - but again, better than the USPS. One thing I think they look for with these photographs was whether or not the package was marked Fragile - which it was - so you may want to take that in to account while shipping.

Did they pay your claim? If not - appeal. I had one that was denied but I appealed and then they paid.
I hate that paypal will refund on an insured item - seems like they should wait to see if the claim is paid by the insurance company. Paypal refunding only make an uncooperative buyer. Yet another way Paypal sticks it to the seller.
