O.K. Post Card experts, I have bought several photo albums of post cards that I guess was part of an estate sale. The first problem was of course getting them out, with a hairdryer and husbands help we finally won that battle. But I have a few that had been glued in one of those old black photo albums and either part of the glue or the black is on the back of them, am I to assume they are not worth anything or do I list them anyway with the damage noted? Also I had some with the name of the state written on them, are they trash? Thanks for any help.
Marcia

Marcia... my area of paper ephemera expertise is in vintage ads, not postcards... but I'll throw in my 2 cents anyhow...
My guess is that many post card collectors probably collect the cards for the front image (which presumably wasn't damaged by the glue)... IF the image is a desirable enough image... the postcard should still be worth something.. just make sure you describe any and all damage
For my part... I've sold ads with water-damage, tears, stains, missing pieces, creases etc... with some great success... as long as it's a rare enough piece. Heck, paper that's 100 years old is likely to have some wear showing!

I agree - I've sold cards in deplorable condition - it all depends on their rarity. Do a search on eBay for the same view - if it's not listed in core or store, chances are that someone will want it. Greetings, artist signed and holiday card collectors are generally pickier about condition than most - still, I sold a rabbit juggling an Easter egg with string this week - the condition almost embarrassed me - the buyer thanked me for saving it from the scrap heap.

Thanks for the info. Some of these are linen and someone might want them for the view. I told this guy I would buy the rest of what he had, figure I'll make some money off them.
