New Pulls Dell Dimension 4700 305W Power Supply Y2103
# New Pulls
# Pulled from a machine with cosmetic damage
Ok - so I thought I was getting a like new part? It arrived today (very fast shipping!) but it looks scratched up?
I emailed the seller and asked (probably too late - I'm sure they think I'm trying to switch out my defective part for theirs) if this is a "new" pull or newly pulled. Is it new? Is it used? Is it lightly used?
The seller has opened my email(s) (thanks message tag) but has not answered.

I read it as a power supply pulled out of a new machine. The "cosmetic damage" bit seems designed to allay any fears the buyer might have that it is a used power supply.
I note that this seller has no warranty statement at all, which for someone with such high feedback I find very odd. 30 days is standard when selling used or not-brand-new-in-wrapper parts, but this seller doesn't even offer that.
They sure brag a lot about their customer service, though.

thanks fluffy - that's how I read it too.
It's a little strange that they have opened my emails but haven't responded. I told them I'm not trying to do a bait & switch but just want to know the CONDITION of the item before I install it. I wanted a new or like new item. I wouldn't bother installing a used part like this.
I just thought "new pull". Or was it "newly pulled" and started freaking out.

If you look at some of his/her other auctions - if it's new he/she puts it in the title as New Dell or NEW at the end of the sentence.
Hate to say it but I think you purchased a used part.
Why not call - their number is on the ME page. Maybe they will work with you.

well I went ahead and installed the part after the two emails I sent them were not responded to. I know they opened them and read them because I use messagetag. It's free and while it doesn't work with all email systems it's been a great add on.
I just think it's RUDE that they didn't answer my emails. The part that I pulled out of my machine looked MUCH better than the part I was sent.
I thought I would install it and if it didn't work then I would return it. It did/does work and while it's probably a used part I will leave it in for now.
Did I mention how much I love my Dell and how easy it is to work on? You don't even need a screwdriver to take it apart and the parts are cheap on Ebay. The part passed the diagnostics test which Dell includes or you can download.
I first noticed my computer was beeping and when I googled that the fan was the culprit. I first replaced the computer fan and then when that didn't cool it down (although the new fan was much quieter and no harm in replacing it) I ran the diagnostics again and I noticed it said Processor fan. Which is kind of like the power pack and fan.
I downloaded I8kfanGUI (Dell fan temperature control) when I was trying to figure out my temps. Before it was running at 60 degrees and now it is 50. If your temps are too high you can fry your hard drive.
So I am grateful that 1) the Dell beeped to let me know something was wrong BEFORE it died 2) that Dell has diagnostics to tell you where the problem is 3) that parts are cheap on Ebay 4) that Dell is easy to pull apart and replace parts
I still think the seller is RUDE not to have responded to my emails. I first complimented them on warp speed shipping and then asked if the part was indeed a "new" pulled part or newly pulled since it looked so scratched.
I still haven't decided on what kind of feedback to leave. They haven't left theirs of course.

OT glassgrl, all those wonderful, easy things you mentioned about Dell computers have been true about MACS for decades.
