I thought they were going to wait a while to roll out the new price plus shipping? I am seeing it now when I am researching to find highest prices for items. Lets just roll out all kinds of stuff and see how much we can snafu up the heavy selling season!

Is there a way to opt out of that. I hate it.

Oh yeah - another thing it does is if you use Vendio's shipping calculator, you get dropped down in the search. I think we will be lucky if anyone finds us this Christmas.

ladyjewels- Are you sure? I use Vendio's calculator and my items were where I would expect them to be in the list with shipping and price combined.

Lady, me, too. Some of my older listings used to have "standard Flat Rate" as a valid eBay shipping method. Ebay eliminated this as a shipping method when the postage rates went up, the listings changed to "see item description". Never did I dream it would affect search.

I didn't use the standard flat rate option. I've used priority mail calculated, priority mail fixed and first class fixed.

The good news: you can now bulk edit shipping in eBay (up to 50 at once) YAY! Bad news: I have 2200 listings to revise.

No way to opt out and the 'see description' will be at the bottom. You now have to put an amount or a calculator with pounds ect. I almost always do that anyway but now I have to be SURE I do that if I don't want to be lost. And don't forget your placement in the lineup also includes your 'star rating' or it will soon. Can they make it any harder to make a living?

I'm afraid I spoke too soon. The auctions I listed tonight with the vendio calculator and calculated priority mail shipping are showing at the bottom. The fixed price ones show up where I'd expect them too - so far.

I lied - you can edit shipping for 200 listings at a time with eBay's bulk revising feature. Woo Woo! Edited to add - checking my revised listings, it appears they haven't been updated. Back to a serious depression...

I just checked an item I listed last night for $599. It's after all the 99 cent items on page 159.
cherishedclutter - on this item I did use a flat rate but with Vendio so it's not showing on ebay.
I can't see editing all my listings - I would have to get each item out - weight it and measure it. Besides when you edit an item, it drops off the search for up to 24 hours.
Since they made this wonderful change, I've gotten no bids and don't even have watcher on most of my items. This is going to be a long cold winter.

Are you searching by highest or lowest or ending soonest? If ending soonest your things might be on the bottom as they are new listings with the most time left. I bet if you choose either 'highest' or 'lowest' they will pop up in the right order.

I just got off live help to report bulk editing of shipping not working. The rep admitted eBay is having a lot of problems with their revision tools. I was kind of tickled st the end he asked that I complete the satisfaction survey "I really need a positive".

See description items show at the bottom if you are searching lowest to highest OR highest to lowest.

Obviously designed for the thousands of items of which there are hundreds of virtually identical items of each available. I found it quite useful when looking for printer ink or sandals for example.
It's not useful when looking for quilts -- but I never sorted by price anyway, and I don't believe most people searching for antiques or collectibles do other than ending soonest, or perhaps newly listed.

Ladyjewels and Cheryl, I've been tearing my hair out trying to figure why some of my listings do not show shipping (it shows before I launch, but doesn't make it over to eBay). Nathan was able to help me with this. Under My Account>eBay Site Specfics - you need to check the box at the bottom that says Show Shipping in eBay. (This was already checked in mine) Since I use Profiles to list, I also had to go into the affected profiles. Shipping is shown correctly, but I had to go down to the bottom where there is a box Show eBay Site Specifics. Clicking on it, I found Show Shipping in eBay was NOT marked.

I got mine to show calculated shipping using your help Pixiamon but it didn't help with the placement of the auction.
I just can't use flat rate shipping on most items or I'll over charge on one coast and under charge on the other. Is that what I'm up again now?
Pixiamon - what do you mean by Profiles? I may have missed something else??

Ladyjewels, today when I went in to revise (through eBay) items already on auction, I got my shipping to show on the listing itself but not on the search results page, so I am still wallowing at the bottom of search. I'm waiting to see if it is an indexing delay but I think it's an eBay glitch- I dread waiting for Live Help again.
In Vendio's Sales Manager, I have a Profile (listing that is 90% complete) for each type of postcard I sell. I have one for every state, most countries, major cities, and many Topicals like CHIMP POSTCARD. I choose which profile I want by clicking on the New Listing drop-down box on the Create Ebay Listing Page.
To create a Minnesota Postcard profile, I first make a listing titled MINNESOTA MN POSTCARD, eBay Category: Minnesota. I put in a link to all my other Minnesota cards, put in the verbage I want in all my Minnesota listings, with a general description of condition that can be easily modified. At the bottom of the listing form, I check Save this item to inventory and save the listing. Then I go to the Inventory Management on the control panel, Find the Minnesota Postcard inventory item, click on it and check Profile this Item in the upper right hand corner. The next time I want to create a Minnesota listing, I click on New Listing and highlight Minnesota Postcard, 90% of the listing is completed, it only takes me about 2 minutes for each listing.
I used to do almost the same thing by copying listings from Pending, but it seems much faster using Profiles.

Revising with ebay never did change my position for my $599 item in the search except it's now the 1st one after all the 99 cents item. Live help suggested I could use Feature Plus to get more exposure!! You don't want to hear what I suggested to him. Just kidding but it was tempting. Hope you aren't wasting your time.
Good to know that about profiles - I use them in SMPro but they aren't as detailed.

Hi....I wrote E-bay and asked what effect shipping calculator, "free" shipping, and "pick-up only" would have on placement in Search. This is their reply.
"Thank you for writing e-bay in regard to how the items are placed in the Search Results pages based on the shipping cost.
I will be glad to assist you in this regard.
Please allow me to explain that the listings without shipping costs would go at the end of the search results. Calculated shipping would fall into the search results as normal as those who have shipping specified.
However, if you as a seller want a local listing to be in the search results but not at the end, then you would be required to choose "Flat Shipping" while listing the item and then put the service as pick-up only and choose a price for it. It could be 0.00. It is my pleasure to assist you."
What this means to me is that this is giving NO good information to the buyer. Calculated shipping costs are often inflated, sometimes greatly, to include "handling", BUT those listings would be in their "proper" place along with those with shipping specified (inflated or not).
Am I missing something? The whole idea is not good, I think.

So what ebay is really doing is forcing sellers to use flat rate shipping.
As a Florida seller who sells a wide range of items - the only way to do that is overcharge some and under charge others. Watch your stars disappear due to high shipping cost, while you drop in the search anyway.
If you put 0.00 in the flat rate - you're going to get buyer paying w/o shipping. Not a good idea is putting it mildly.
In 10 years on ebay - I've never wanted to quit so badly.
