***Skype Buttons To Be Added Sitewide***

Don Albert
Hi everyone...This is Don Albert from the Skype North America team. For some time now, sellers in certain categories have been able to add Skype buttons to their listings. This gives them a quick, easy way to talk or chat directly with their buyers, resulting in quicker answers to questions and an increased level of trust in their transactions.

Oh yeah, great fun to be on the phone all day answering questions that are already answered in the auction description.

Do ya think that eBay ever talked to any sellers to see if this was something they were lusting for?
I'm gonna pretend for a moment that eBay actually listens.
See, eBay, here's the thing.
The reason why we are not on the phone all day with our customers is NOT that long-distance phone calls cost too darn much.
And it's not because we are too stupid to make mud without a recipe and thus just don't see the marvelous upselling opportunity of speaking with someone in person.
eBay, the reason why we are not on the phone all day with our customers is that we are for the most part tiny Mom-and-Pop (literally) operations that cannot pay both your horrendous fees AND the labor costs of a customer service department.
eBay, you ought to know this, if anyone should. For nearly a decade you have dodged phone support in your own operation in order to rack up record profits.
eBay, you are the worst possible example of how to do business. You cut off your customers' lifeblood by NARUing them on a whim and then make them wait a minimum of a week to get any kind of hearing, while thousands of dollars are lost.
Maybe sellers throughout our great country can pool our meager funds and buy you a CLUE.

Fluff,
Pooling our money to buy eBay a clue won't work either. Ebay would just find a way of screwing it up plus can you imagine the FVF they would charge us for the "clue".
Your right on the money about eBay customer support it simply sucks so eBay shouldn't expect me to do anything that they don't do themselves.

Love your advice Fluff, too bad no one at Ebay is listening, they are too busy messing with feedback and other things that were not in need of alterations.

eBay/Skype is really missing the boat if they think the "sweet spot" for Skype lies in piggy-backing with eBay in the online community. IMHO, the sweet spot is in the corporate community, perhaps adding a teleconferencing function. Corporations can see an immediate payback switching to a PC-based telephone system and kissing adieu to the traditional telecommunication companies.

Nah. Companies of reasonable size already buy voice bundled with data. It all goes out of the building on the same lines. Corporations were hip to voice over IP (VoIP) years before Vonage.
Skype is a consumer service. An insanely-valued consumer service, as many predicted.
