I hired someone off of Kijiji, does that count?
I had a nibble for some shelving I put up, but I ended up giving it away. It was just easier. I'm a little nervous with the whole people-coming-to-my-house thing.
The best use of Kijiji I've found is a kind of sneaky one but I don't think I want to go into it here.

Never heard of it, interesting.
Looks like eBay is buying into everything.
Kijiji (Swahili for village)
is a centralized network of online urban communities for posting local classified advertisements. It is a subsidiary of eBay and was launched in March 2005.[citation needed] Kijiji websites are currently available for more than 300 cities in Germany. Further Kijiji countries are France, Italy, Canada, China, India, Taiwan and Japan. Kijiji was made available to selected cities in the United States on June 29, 2007.
In November 2004 eBay acquired Marktplaats.nl, which offers a similar classifieds service in the Netherlands, holding a 80% market share.[citation needed] At that time Marktplaats.nl had branched out into Spain, Germany, Turkey and Canada under the brandname Intoko. Intoko Spain merged with Loquo, Intoko Germany merged with Kijiji Germany. Intoko Canada merged with Kijiji Canada. Intoko Turkey is still operating under Intoko.com.tr.
In May 2005 eBay acquired Gumtree, which offers a similar service for cities in Britain, Ireland, Australia and New Zealand, as well as the Spanish company Loquo. One month later it acquired OpusForum.org, another website offering online classifieds in Germany. In August 2006 Opusforum merged with Kijiji, which became the brand name for the German Speaking Area.[citation needed]

I use Craigs List and Kijiji. Sold a desk on Craigns list with no problem and gave some fencing away on Kijiji. The fellow was happy to haul it away and I was happy not to have to pay someone to take it to the dump.

Niel35 - If you want to give things away, here is a great site! http://www.freecycle.org/ It's also a great site to look for things you need. Competition is tough, though. We once were able to give away a lot of things we would have otherwise had to haul to the dump.

Neva: Your giving something away reminds me: When we first bought our house and property 6 years ago, there was a large target with its own huge easel-thing. I asked the previous owner what it was all about, and she said it was for her and her husband to practice their ax throwing!!!! I advertised free, you pickup, and a guy called, came with a friend who drove him to pick it up. The new owner - get this - is legally blind. When I think of a legally blind person throwing an ax, I get the willies.

I joined our local freecycle.org after reading about it here and in the local newspaper. I've been the happy recipient of a GREAT pool pump/filter through freecycle and have given things away that I thought somebody could use.
We had a lot of left over travertine tile pieces that someone was glad to come pick up and we didn't want to fill our garbage can up with since it was so heavy.
