Well I did it. Sent two boxes to the wrong people. I remember reading about some others here who have done that. I hope this ends up with a happy ending.

So far, I've only heard from one of the auction winners. Wish me luck.

This happened to me once. I contacted both buyers and explained what happened and asked them to send the package to the other buyer in exchange and let me know the shipping and I reimbursed them the cost. They were happy to oblige.

Been There! The customers were happy to arrange a swap. Both were also pt sellers and were very understanding. Of course that was way back in the 90's when eBay was a friendlier place.

It's happened to me twice, both times the buyers were very understanding and exchanged them and I reimbursed them. No problem, just be sure and leave good feedback for them !!

I've also sent a small and unexpected "gift" to a customer who was kind enough to "forward" on the package they received in error. It resulted in a repeat customer who realized we were human and thought enough of the time it took them to carry the package to their Post Office and fix our error.

Cross your fingers.

Done that. I had both buyers return the items to ma and I resent them and reimbursed the shipping. I was too worried to take the chance that the packages did not get to the proper destination so I wanted to resend them myself.

Yup, been there myself. Buyers were kind enough to forward to each other, and I covered the postage. I even received pos feedback.
Did cause some anxious moments though.

Sounds as though we've all done it. I've done it once. You know how it goes when you're in a lab for some blood tests? The nurse checks and doublechecks the paperwork before sticking you? I think about that these days, as I make doubly sure I'm sending the right thing to the right person.

Once was enough for me, caused a lot of angst in this old body.

Talk about angst! I once mixed up shipment for a $10 postcard with a $300 postcard. I did insure the latter, for a signature to the wrong party! I asked for the $10 recipient to forward the card. Asked the $300 recipient to not sign for the shipment so it would be returned to me. I refunded $10 plus shipping to the original purchaser of the item, and let them keep it at no charge. I promised the original $300 purchaser that I would look for a postcard of the same locale and would ship it at no charge if I found one. It took 6 weeks before the $300 card was returned to me. I found a misspelled similar listing on eBay which I purchased for $4.00 and forwarded to my patient and understanding customer.

It's more screwed up than I thought. Buyer #1 bought a $21 perfume bottle and received a $10 perfume bottle. Buyer number 2 bought a $10 lot of costume jewelry received it and the $21 perfume bottle. Buyer number 3 bought the $10 perfume bottle and received nothing.

So far, I've only been in contact with buyer number 1, who of course wants her perfume bottle. Buyer number 2 gave me positive feedback for the jewelry, but so far hasn't responded to my e-mails regarding the pefume bottle. I'm just "assuming" she got the perfume bottle based on my post office receipts.

I e-mailed buyer number 3 as well - but no response there either.

Yep, definitely a lot of angst - at least they weren't high dollar items. And if I get (my first) negs out of this, I can't say I didn't deserve them.

Call #2 on the phone. Emails are easier to ignore than a friendly voice on the phone.

Oh, this is such a mess. Just as I was about to call, buyer #2 responded to an e-mail and said that she didn't get the perfume bottle.

So I checked on the USPS website and it says that it was delivered to buyer #3's city (in Texas)this morning, even though my receipt says it went to buyer #2's city (in Indiana).

I guess I need to call buyer #3.

I sent Priority Mail labels on the wrong boxes. I found out before anyone received them and went to the Post Office to see if there was anything I could do. They gave me the destination Post Office phone numbers and told me that they give extra service on Priority and if I could call in a timely way they probably would help. I was lucky and they corrected the addresses for me free of charge. The hardest part they said is being able to intercept the package.

Be careful with this ebay/paypal trick. I bought an item for someone, paid immediately through Paypal and had it shipped directly to the person. Unfortunately, I didn't realize that eBay/Paypal now has that address(to the other person) as MY shipping address. So, I few months later, I finally buy something else and pay through Paypal, guess who gets my item. Not me! So, if you ever buy something and have it shipped to another address, make sure you go in and delete that address afterwards.
