Why would a seller not take paypal for International sales but they would take Bid Pay?

Aren't both payment methods the same?

The old BidPay was safer then Paypal but since they have the New Bidpay it appears to me to be the same as paypal when it comes to charge backs on International sales.

Also, would it be safe to accept payment from UK/Canada only if using paypal?

Also, can we state in our auctions that we only except payment with paypal funds if we except International payments with paypal?

Would this way be safer then accepting payment with credit cards through paypal.

No, they're not the same.

PayPal seller protection only works (for a US seller) for confirmed addresses in the US, UK, and Canada. BidPay does not have that restriction.

Yes, it is safe to accept only from UK/Canada, but note that you'll have to self-police this policy. PayPal doesn't have a handy box to check that says you'll only accept payments that are covered by Seller Protection; you can say US-only, or you can say Worldwide.

The old bid pay as I remember it was when a payment was made the buyer could not claim his money back like with paypal.

But the new bid pay allows this now, or am I wrong about this.

The OLD BidPay used to be a seller's BFF!

Once they MAILED you the MONEY ORDER, they promised never to try & reverse it!

They were GREAT! They also charged the BUYER a bundle for this -- another GREAT FEATURE (lol!)

They then WENT OUT OF BUSINESS!

A financial services company bought the NAME "BidPay" and that's just about the only similarity...

I call them PayPal-Lite and cannot see ANY reason to use them...

They ONLY download yer money into yer checking account...

Their fees are about the same as PayPal's, and, before feeling warm & fuzzy about their "Protection" policies, I would read the whole TOS carefully...

I don't predict a groundswell of buyers clammoring for sellers to offer BidPay anytime in the near future...

50% OF my bids are now coming from Intl bidders and most of them prefer Paypal.
For low priced items,I just ship with no online tracking, saving them some money on shipping using first class mail.
For high priced items,I will take out insurance with U-PIC or DSI and ship them first class with no tracking.
Western Union,Moneygram are alternatives to Paypal,so are wiretransfer and AMEX/bank drafts and money orders.
Also for Japan and Canada, your buyer can get a postal order in US $ at the local post office.
If they are going to their local bank to buy you a bank draft or money order, make sure they tell their banker it must be drawn on a US bank, otherwise your local bank will have a hard time clearing it.

Sellers who accept Bidpay ,they could be using old template when Bidpay treated every charge transaction as 'cash advance'.
You cannot do a chargeback on cash advance ,whether payable to yourself or a third party.
