I know this has been discussed before but I have not had a store for a while and am thinking of opening one. If you have one do you think you sell enough to make it worthwhile? Just looking for some input!! Thanks

Maybe some sellers do a great business out of their ebay stores but, as a buyer, I don't even look in them anymore....
...when I did in the past, everything was way, way overpriced in the fields I was interested in.....didn't need anything that badly....maybe it's changed so that sellers are a little more realistic???

About 80% of what I sell in out of my store. My sales to Canada have really increased. I think people buy more items from a store than from auctions.

Joyce, what is it you're trying to achieve with a store?

I sell enough to make it worthwhile. They don't work for everybody. Probably the best way to see how you would do in a store is to take a look at your competition - study the successful sellers and figure out if you can do what they do to make it work. Gone are the days when you could put up a logo and list a bunch of items and expect to see decent sales.

Hi Fluffy--I have a lot of items that seem to bring about the same price any time they are listed (if they sell). I was thinking it might be beneficial to put them in a store and hopefully they would sell eventually and keep me from having a fortune in listing fees. I have duplicates of some so could list more than one.
What would you suggest?

Aside from the higher fees my store is invaluable. At least half of my sales are generated through it. The listing fees for auctions would make my business less profitable. It did take time to develop.

About 70% of my sales are from my store. My yarn sells well, and it works better in my store because I sell it by the skein so buyers can purchase the amount they need. I try to keep my prices low, that way my auctions come up near the top of the search. The thing that kills me is the 10% fvf's.

Best is to open one and find out for yourself.

I left my store open while on vacation for 3 weeks in November (4 weeks without auctions ending) and sold 400 postcards. I offered free shipping to compensate for delayed shipping.
It's the closest thing to a paid vacation you can get around here .

75% of my sales come from my store. I think it satisfies that instant gratification that some buyers are looking for. I get more multiple items per customer when they buy out of my store. Anymore I use auctions to advertise my store. I went almost a year with a store only and it held its own. I do think the FVF are crazy high.
Just simple thoughts from a very simple mind.

I hardly ever do auctions anymore, most of my business is fixed price, and most of that is stores. My ebay business is a lot less than it used to be though (my overall business is way up, I've just expanded beyond ebay) - My store is still worth it, but after the prices went back up from 2 cents to 5 cents a month, and 5 to 8 to 10% FVF, I gutted the store. I was worried last year that the price might go to 10 cents, but ebay certainly is hurting lately...I don't see the price increasing, and perhaps the price might decrease. I would re-evaluate my ebay participation at that point.
Is a store worth it? It really depends on what you sell, and how good you are at promoting yourself.
