Japan, I assume. I have a number of postcards all captioned "Famous Places and Prospekts in (Yajima). Is it an area known by another name now? TIA

I just googled the word; seems there are actors or singers? with that name, but on the first results page there was this link, which may or may not be helpful:

There is a Yajima-Kyojima village on Sado Island (sounds like the summer retreat of the Marquis deSade?), and some writers refer to this village as just plain ole "Yajima" --

Thanks, both of you. Yajima seems to be a common Japanese family name which makes Google searches difficult. I think Tom found it. I couldn't get access through his link, but a search on Yajima Kyojima proved very fruitful!
