Paypal finally answered...that is what they are claiming ..that the buyer typed in the wrong email address??!! Seems weird because usually you have to enter the auction number also and it rejects it if the IDs don't match up. Christmas is coming, I can always hope MORE buyers will do this....

Are you sure it was payment for an eBay item?

yes...definitely payment for ebay item. Had item number and link(which I didn't open)in the e-mail notification. I went to my paypal and payment was showing as paid. Clicked the link through paypal and same auction. 170077894613 is the auction number. I searched both my paypal and ebay account transactions...never had anything to do with either one of these IDs(buyer or the seller).I just wish it had been for a million dollar house and not a $2 flashlight. Would of invested that quickly in some short term money-making accounts and waited for Paypal to figure it out.

Your assumption on how PayPal works isn't really correct. It is possible to pay for ebay items and get the e-mail address incorrect.

In your case, click the refund button and in the comments section simply state that they paid the wrong person and should re-check to whom they were sending it too.
