Buyer pays with an echeck on 11/18. Well it shows pending and I check back in about a week and it shows that it will clear by 11/30. Well OK, I know paypal has said they are spending extra time on some transactions.

Keep looking and yes, payment pending.

Then this morning I go in and check the transaction. NOTE...it is still marked Payment Pending on EBay so it is not in my dispute panel.

BUT...it was canceled on 11/30. I search my email and can find no notice of this.

I go in an do a manual dispute.

Very strange.

Maybe the check didn't clear and they put it through again? Very odd!

Are you checking on Ebay or on PayPal?

On ebay it says payment pending.

On Paypal it says payment was cancelled on Nov. 30th.

No new entries on Paypal since the 30th.

This happened to me before. Either his credit card on file was declined or he didn't have funds to cover it in his bank account. Finally, PayPal canceled the payment.

What Beth describes is the normal behavior when an eCheck goes awry.

It's certainly not very helpful to the seller, though. PayPal ought to at least mail you to tell you the payment was cancelled.

I'm a little uneasy this week as I'm getting lots of eChecks.

A friend of mine who works for retail store said she sees many customers using debit card and writing personal checks during holiday, makes me wonder if they max out on their credit cards?

11/18 to 11/30,it does not take 12 days for a check to clear through ACH (Automated clearning house),your bidder must not have enough fund in her bank account.

Ebay Australia allows the seller to list their bank account number on the item page so the high bidder who has online banking can just pay her direct into her bank account.
I dont see why we cannot do the same, but then all those whiners would not get Paypal protection !
(you can set up a bank account just to receive payments and empty it every day)
