Just got this email & wondering if it's true.
Effective December 31, 2007, BidPay.com, Inc. will be discontinuing operations. We regret any inconvenience to our users and thank you for your patronage over the years. Please note the following important details about the shutdown. Please plan accordingly.
Effective IMMEDIATELY, BidPay will no longer accept new BidPay account registrations.
Effective IMMEDIATELY, banner insertions for new auctions will be disabled. That means that any attempts to add “BidPay” as a payment option in auctions will not be effective. Accordingly, you should offer alternative forms of payment.
Effective 5:00 P.M. PST, December 25, 2007, BidPay will cease accepting payments.
From January 1, 2008 through 11:59 P.M. PST, January 31, 2008, registered users will have read-only access to their BidPay account information.
Customer support services will be available through January 31, 2008 by contacting [email protected].

It's true (again). Just visited bidpay.com. Edited to add: I wonder why a major CC company hasn't tried to take on a PayPal-type service, say, Mastercard Online or American Express Online. Like PayPal, they could accept alternative methods of funding but give a discount for purchases funded through their respective parent CC card.

To compete with Paypal, they will have to offer money market mutual fund,seller/buyer protection, customer service well versed with Ebay squabbles,is it worth it??

In a word, Hwa Hwa, yes. I doubt if PayPal's money market mutual fund is the compelling reason most sellers choose Paypal and the CC companies already offer buyers protection that'ssuperior to Paypal's.

Have you guys seen anything about www.RevolutionMoney.com? They look legit and have significant funding and have seen some serious press.
If anyone is going to give PayPal a run for "our" money, it's going to be this group -- at least of those currently in play.
I'd be interested in what you have to say about them... I'll post another thread to see not highjack this thread.
