Of course its French IMHO. Give the old gal time. I'm sure she has the French peas, French fries, French bread, Petits Pâtés a la Sage, etc. coming up

I agree, Pmelcher...looks like advertising illustration to me in the Bordeaux region of France. Are the Rousseau brothers winemakers?

Thanks, everybody, but, what I was actually wondering is if this illustration is an example of a PARTICULAR art "style"...

I know little about art (Ralphie would opine that I know little about anything...), and was hoping that one of the RESIDENT GENIUSES here could identify the style...

Is it Art Nouveau? Is it Art Flemming? Is it Art de Ralphee?

Or is it just a plain ole nothing?

It looks like sumptin to me, but I just can't put my finger on it...It's on the tip of my tongue (Ugh!)...

HELP! SVP!

More like a caricature than anything else. Suspect this was the style of the artist -- and I think the group is actually in the Pyrenees, see the head gear and the red peppers? Very Basque.

Tom, it really is not representative of a recognized art movement or "style". Drawings such as cartoons, advertising illustration and magazine illustration for example aren't generally classified as art. Even Norman Rockwell was called an illustrator and his work is far superior in my opinion to the illustration that you have posted.

You can take a look at the list of art movements or styles here but I don't believe that you will find one that describes your illustration.

Helen:

OBVIOUSLY, yer incorrect, as this is an OBVIOUS example of the Grande Schnazola movement, popularized by a Mr. Durante...

Not a style , but close enough to poster art. I would put that in my title.

Does anyone have any idea what "Etche Ona" is? It's not French, and doesn't appear in the Basque translator I found though it could be a conjugation of something else, the Basque language being somewhat strange in its structure.

What we have here is a label for a bottle of Bordeaux Red Wine. Check out Rousseau Freres.

I would also consider the label as representative of a particular style. Perhaps as mentioned - 'French Poster Art.' Although I believe there is a particular name to the style, my old mind fails me at this moment.

Bill, my first post before the edits suggested France wine ad poster art postcard - should have stayed with my first instinct. I assumed it was on a postcard.

As you noted in your sig line, Jacques le Tanneur's work looks like that of Toulouse Lautrec - bohemian, poster, art nouveau.. whatever.

As pixiamom pointed out (before the edit), you probably want to get the name of the artist, restaurant and city in the title and make sure the publisher is in the description.
