Well, THINK FIRST before ya list it!

http://pages.ebay.com/help/policies/politicalmem.html

Have we, as a society, become a nation of constant whiners?

Seems like all we can do anymore is P&M over trivia...

I have a nifty Teddy Roosevelt 1912 campaign postcard I listed -- now, Ralphie & I are quaking in our boots (booties in his case) that the REPRO POLICE will come crashing down the doors, sending us to MARION for years due to our ILLEGAL cache of Warren G. Harding Commemorative Condoms???

Yikes!

If I were any good at languages, I'd move to DENMARK, just about the ONLY country left in the world with any real...cajones! (and them's ain't NO Swedish meatballs!)

Oh rats! Do you mean this postcard I sold this week is not in compliance?

It isn't a repro though so maybe I'm ok

Yikes!

You scared Ralphie into hiding unda da bed!

I tried to reassure him that it's only an ad for the "Coneheads" movie, but, he's having none of it!

It seems as though eBay is saying that items must be listed accurately and in appropriate category. Am I missing something here? Sounds reasonable to me.

Not-From-Maine says:

"It seems as though eBay is saying that items must be listed accurately and in appropriate category. Am I missing something here? Sounds reasonable to me."

Can't argue with what you said, but, do we really need a FEDERAL LAW regulating the sales of...BUMPER STICKERS?

Do we really need a little EXCLUSIVE FEES-PAYING CLUB to insure that every Tom (Jefferson) Dick (Nixon) and Harry (Truman) selling Harold Stasson pin-backs didn't buy a Chinese imitation just to sell on feeBay?

There is a WHOLE UNDERGROUND society in this country that revolves around the SCAMMING of MILLIONS by MILLIONS for MILLIONS, that goes totally UNREGULATED because for the past 10 years, the GOP supported this massive CON GAME known as SCAM WEIGH (and ALL other PRODUCT BASED PYRAMID SCHEMES)...

10s of thousands of lives ruined...Hundreds of millions of DOLLARS down the toilet...And nary a peep out of the GOP CONTROLLED CONGRESS...

If ya want to really get shook-up, read:

"Merchants of Deception"

http://www.merchantsofdeception.com/DOWNLOADBOOK.html

The FTC has been a toothless wonder, refusing to enforce the weak laws that are on the books...

Thousands of lives are ruined EVERY YEAR by what are known as:

PRODUCT BASED PYRAMID SCHEMES

They even have their own Congresswoman (from a Southern state) that tried to ram through a bill that would have basically eliminated ALL consumer protections...

http://www.pyramidschemealert.org/PSAMain/news/DSABill/DSAbill_analysis.html#Behind%20DSA

Folks get sucked into these "cults" of the almighty dollar, and become, basically, what I call: "Money Moonies"

Multi-BILLION DOLLAR businesses that sell...NOTHING to NOBODY!

Instead of this silly "I LIKE IKE" poster law, it would have been nice if CONGRESS had gone after a REAL problem...

This (as with most legislation) probably arose from concerns of a constituency, i.e., collectors of this material. Nothing wrong with that; it is not either/or. You are certainly free to demand that your elected representatives look at multi-level marketing, milk pricing, logging rights, etc. in addition to laws about spurious political memorabilia. That's how it works, and as they say, may not be the best system, but can you find a better one?

BTW, I am not from Maine.

I'm keeping my head down, trying to concentrate on scanning while my little brother and Mom clean out my Dad's memorabilia. I've spoken out only four times: once to save the pipe ash tray I made for my Dad (it sat on his desk for many years), once to claim a fishing knife for my kid, once to save his miscellaneous matchbooks from the scrap heap, and finally, to keep the invitation to Eisenhower's inauguration (not sure my Mom would really throw it away, but given her current feelings about Republicans, I wasn't going to chance it)
