I went to a book sale and I witness a person using a hand held device that read the ISPN number on a book. I was trying to get a closer look without making it obvious. He didn't look like a person who would want to share the info about it.
Anyone have any ideas what it might be called.
TIA.

I believe there are several different hardware/software bundles that do this. This is one of them. It checks Amazon prices on books, CDs, DVDs, etc:

Bookthink.com was pushing one model in the past year; I forget the name, but I think it had "scout" in the title. With that one, I think you input the ISBN number and get info about how the book has sold recently. Something like that. And I believe there was a monthly fee for the service. I don't use one, but have thought about it from time to time.

Thank you everyone for the info. I wondered what it was as it was small and narrow. It didn't look like a phone but some type of scanner that you would use to do inventory. I received an Iphone for Xmas so I thought that I might be able to utilize this little diddy.
thanks again Fluff, Roadie & Zippy. I now have info to begin the search.
