I suspect that the cards with numbers are sample trade cards and the numbers are stock numbers. Maybe they are from the stock of a printer. I have some trade cards in my collection that have no product or business listed but are the same graphic as others that are imprinted with different businesses.

The two new year cards could also be samples if they are from the same source.

THANKS, ALL!

How about #2?

I have a bunch of these that don't appear to sell anything? Are they also "samples?"

#2 is a new year card. It could have been a sample. I think someone would want it just for the graphic. New Year/trade card maybe?

I don't think any are tobacco/cigarette cards. All seem 1880's-1890's

1/3/4) Game cards? (Great Britian?)
2) Victorian scrap or trade card?
5) Victorian scrap? (Russian?)
6) Religious card

A few lines taken from this site below, check it out tom

http://www.cigarettecards.co.uk/intro.htm

In America during the 1880's cards known as 'stiffeners' were inserted into paper packets of cigarettes to reinforce the packaging and so to protect the contents, someone (believed to be an American journalist) had the idea of advertising by printing a picture and descriptive details on them.

Card-type items that were often used as decorative pieces in scrapbooks during the Victorian-age.

I still say the numbers on the cards make the case. They are printers samples of trade cards.

I think the first one of the little girl and the enormous fish is really a winner.
