I came across this on one of the chat boards.thought you might like to read it.

Delta has made a serious suggestion. I've been suggesting we move as a unit. We need to organize, and be one. As some recalled, United We Stand, Divided We Fall".

Here is my proposed list of actions and demands.
1. Unite to sell and buy on only Amazon or Overstock auctions. (We as a group can decide to change one or both. I suggest them, because they seem to be the largest sites).
2. Refrain from buying on ebay until ALL demands are met.
3. Refrain from selling on ebay until ALL demands are met.
4. Stay committed to each other buy letting sellers know you are buying from their non ebay auctions.
5. Stay committed to each other by letting buyers know you will be transferring your auctions to Amazon and/or Overstock. (Placing a note in their packages).
6. Stay committed to each other by alerting ebay on each sale you listed elsewhere, and each purchase you made elsewhere. Remind them of the fees they lost as a result.
Demands:
1. Restructuring the fees, to a REASONABLE rate. Raising insertion fees by a nickel will generate millions over the year. They don't need to do more than that.
2. Revamp the FB process, BUT, not in the way proposed. We WILL NOT be held hostage by extortionist members.
3. Immediate release of paypal funds.
4. Refunding of Reserve Fees, if the item sells.
5. Eliminate the 10 day fee. Make it reasonable again. Not to exceed 20 cents. (My own pet peeve);

Overstock listing fee is 20 cents and up,second title is free, first picture is free, make it mine price(their version of Buy it now) has to be at least 50% more than the starting bid.
If item does not sell and you choose to relist, there is no refund of the listing fee if the item sells second time .
Communicating with the winner is a pain ,sending invoice is a pain.
Some have not heard of Paypal and if you need to send a paypal invoice, you have to go to paypal and do it yourself.
Overstock has no way of forcing deadbeats to pay you,so they get suspended?WHoopee !
Also,I dont think either AMZN or Overstock autions can handle Ebay like traffic.

Agate, as I said in an earlier post, I think a guild or merchants' union is much needed on eBay. Some of the things I would like to see: discounted fees on direct credit card payments to give more alternatives to Paypal, a mediation panel where live people actually look at seller/buyer disputes, a strong branding and buyer education so buyers will avoid buying from sellers not in the union. Also, a refusal to participate in the feedback system until eBay revises it. I'd be willing to pay annual fees for such a union. Do you know if any initiative is in the works?

pixiamom I have made no comment on the subject. I did come across this and thought i would put it up for others to read and make up their own mind on the subjects. As it so happens i do agree with you. It is going to take millions of people objecting to these changes to stop them. eBay is just sitting there laughing at them. They know that will not happen. Sadly there is too many sellers out there with no backbone to stand up for their rights or voice their opinion when something is wrong.

Does anyone know how many sellers there is on ebay.??

It would be interesting to see what kind of changes take place with Yahoo if Microsoft does buy them. I tryed selling on Overstock and had tons of deadbeats. I hate Amazon, they don't have anything to offer but prices drove into the dirt by sellers selling items for a few cents. I really don't see their web stores doing anything, but maybe I'm wrong. Until you find a place where sellers can sell collectables as fast as they sell on E-Bay, not that they make a whole lot of money on them, but they do sell. Most places you can't give them away.

Just wanted to let you know about this new website that pays us up to 36% of the seller's fees whenever we buy something on eBay.

We can also get cash back at other retailers and earn extra cash when other people shop.

Just use the link below to check it out and let me know what you think!

Mah645,
When Overstock started its auction site years ago, customers who have their credit cards on file with Overstock assume auction sellers or Overstock will charge their credit card so they just bid and do nothing and expect the item to arrive .
You have to send a Paypal invoice or ask them to send you a payment in the mail.
There is a lot of handholding in the beginning.
