I am just wondering because at around 50 ratings, I went down to a 4.9 on communication. I am now at almost 700 ratings, and that one has never changed. All the others are below 5.0, but that does not surprise me. It is possible that an occasional item is not exactly as described. My shipping times can be very slow from Canada to the US. My shipping costs are higher for the same reason, but without boasting, I don't think I could possible improve my communication to sellers. So I am wondering if once you have slipped below 5.0, you can ever attain that again?

Interesting question. Maybe when only the last 30 days counts? Or do I understand that right.

DSRs are WORTHLESS....You as a seller have NO CLUE who leaves what and when....let alone if they answer all four of them anyways. Your numbers are gonna be whatever eBay feels like giving you. Unless of course you ask each and every buyer what they left for you and hope they tell you the truth. ...just my opinion...at least with the feedback, you could sort-of tell where and when your numbers would change. This DSR program should be OPENLY DISPLAYED beside each BUYER like FEEDBACK is. Everytime I chat with LIVE HELP, I stop myself before leaving all BAD responses to their survey, I would love to give them 1s on all.

rh!!!! I am so delighted to know I am not the only one who has been tempted to leave bad and low responces after live help-less That is the MOST frustrating system I do believe I remember 2 times in 10 years they have actually helped. Most of the time I find this board FAR more helpful than live help!

I agree, we don't know if we even get what buyers give us. The only problem with the DSR's is that eBay are going to be using them against sellers as far as I can see, and it really isn't fair when you really are doing your best, but disgruntled buyers mark you down, and it affects your search results. I don't think it is ever fair to be marked on your performance, when you can't question why you were marked down. How does that help you improve? I hadn't had a feedback for a few days, then I got one, and my shipping results went down a point, so I asked the buyer why she marked me down, and she said she just gave me a neutral on shipping, which to her was neither good or bad. Well, to me it was bad, because it put my total down.

Near the beginning of this stupid DSR thing my "As described" went down to 4.9 and at some point it went back to 5.0.
My others are 4.9 4.9 & 4.8 and have been like that since I had 10 ratings and now I have about 260.

Who knows! I am trying not to take any notice of them but it's pretty hard not to see these bright yellow thingys looking at me!

I have been giving some Feedback to Buyers that starts out with "FIVE STAR BUYER" in the hope that it may give them a hint!

Way OT here but Amber...hope you are all snug at home and prepared for your next 36 hours of weather! The same goes for anyone in the US who is in line for the latest storm.

Thanks otteropp, yet another winter storm weekend. I think this will be the 5th. We're expecting most highways to be closed, I guess we should be used to it.

I've been mentioning stars in my FB too hoping the buyer will catch on. It was glassgrl that gave me the idea in one of her posts.

Sometimes I think there are some very satisfied buyers out there that don't give 5 stars on the premise that nothing is perfect so will stop at 4. JMHO

At work our rating system is 1 - 5 with 5 being 'outstanding'. They suggest giving no more than a 3 or 4 in any of the 26 categories. Our raises depend on the ratings of our peers and our supervisors. I can see where buyers on eBay would think that 3's or 4's are acceptable. The whole DSR system is skewed wrong. (By the way I gave mostly 5's for my co-workers except for one or two 4's, I work with some remarkable people, none of them are just 'ordinary' or 'competent')

What kind of communication do the bidders expect from seller?
When I used Paypal to print the shipping label, they get an email saying your item has been shipped,is that enough??
Prior to that, they get emails from Ebay when they make a bid, they get end of auction email from Ebay, then they get an invoice from me,how much more do they want ?

I am not a powerseller,as long as I charge enough shipping and handling to pay for Ebay and Paypal fees ,I am happy,I dont care if they dont give me a 5.0 rating!
Money talks louder than worthless feedback!
They get their item in a timely manner ,item is as described,if they want more,go see a shrink!

Some of my competitors charge 6.95 - 7.95 for shipping a small item, are they too cheap or lazy to order some small boxes?USPS priority box may be free, but you have to pay more 4.65 with free DC while using a small box of your own with first class shipping and DC is only 1.48.

What the heck Stop, you actually made sense here. Did you happen to see that shrink?

I too am not a powerseller so having 4.6 or higher isn't going to effect me over the long haul. I won't be getting any discounts from ebay for having high marks, although I do have them. All so far 4.8 or higher (knock on wood).

I typically receive one, maybe 2 FB's a day, so it's not too hard for me to tell if someone dings a star.
Just happened last week. I got a ding on my communications star. It was from a buyer who took 10 days to pay for a $500 item with no explanation of the delay. Then he paid with an e-check. I never sent reminders of non-payment and didn't report him as NPB - so I guess I deserved the ding on the communication star.

I see some of the sellers are charging more on shipping than they did. I went up on the items and down on the shipping. Boxes don't cost us anything, hubby makes his own. The bubble bags are what went up.

Just wanted to let you know about this new website that pays us up to 36% of the seller's fees whenever we buy something on eBay.

We can also get cash back at other retailers and earn extra cash when other people shop.

Just use the link below to check it out and let me know what you think!
