I use eSnipe for all my eBay bidding. I started some time ago when I realized that I was crazy to set my clock for 3:00 a.m. to snipe an international auction. I just sent some questions using the Contact form on the site. I have never sent eSnipe a question and don't know how prompt they are. I know the eBay Outlookers are a knowledgeable bunch so am asking here as a backup. If anyone knows the answers from personal experience I would appreciate hearing from you.

I want to snipe an auction on eBay UK that will be much higher than my usual bid. On the eSnipe Help page it states that ALL international bids are 100 points. Is this correct? Is 100 points all I will be charged or is this a minimum and my points will be based on the winning bid?

On a different but related point. What happens if I misjudge and win a snipe that costs more than the points I have in my balance? Does eSnipe notify me when I enter the bid that I need to purchase more, do they put in the snipe and bill me for the short fall, or not enter the bid at all?

Thanks for any answers.

I don't know what their "cap" is but yes - it only goes up to a certain amount and no matter how much the auction goes for, you are only charged the cap.

Even if your bid points are short, you will still be able to snipe. The next time you try to snipe something you will be informed your bid points are in arrears.

DO make sure you are bidding in the correct currency though

(I'm pretty sure my answers are right.....)

Had to email eSnipe for a question yesterday and they got back to me within a few hours (personalized answer too). I had overdrawn my points, but was still able to enter a snipe, and then went to purchase more bid points. Don't know about the cap on international.

Wow! I am impressed! Got an answer from eSnipe that seemed to be written by a human. I have had such bad luck with online help at so many web sites that I had no faith.

They said that international auctions were 100 points no matter the final cost.

They also said they would bid and send an invoice for any shortage of points. They get an A+ for support.

Thanks also for the responses here.

I use Firefox, and just found an add-on for esnipe that opens in the window of the item you're on. VERY convenient, and saves toggling.
