Seems like more and more sellers are abandoning ship. Sellers and buyers check out Onlineauction.com. Very interesting and have gotten good reviews on the net. Just thought I would share. Has a good feel to it, but is still growing. Seems promising especially if feebay keeps up the "good" work. lol

OLA.com or onlineauction.com will be having a rummage sale that beginson May 1 ~ all items listing at 99 cents.
Should be worth a peek!

I don't get it. You won't take PayPal because you are afraid that your identify will be stolen again but you are willing to trust that site to keep your information secure?

I saw this on Auctionbytes; what a great idea!

......would you participate as a seller to list some worthwhile items for .99 - something that buyers couldn't resist?!?! ...

But here's an even better idea: Why doesn't onlineauction.com go out and buy some great stuff on their own, then list it for .99 starting bid. I think asking people to take a probable loss in an attempt to build traffic for someone's auction site is pretty nervy.

I won't go selling on OLA but I may go shopping!

There are a lot of cheap junks on OLA,everyone knows if you have a winner, you want to sell it on Ebay.
The sellers are abandoning Ebay ship because they cant sell their items, and the listing fee is too much to bear.

Actually, it is to bring buyers to find where many of their favorite sellers have gone.
"Rummage Sale" ~ not for items that you want to sell for big bucks, for items that you are willing to let go of to bring the buyers to the sellers.
Without eBaY's listing fees, image hosting sfees and final value fees ~ without paypal fees.
Not sure about the math but probably like selling items for over three bucks on eBaY.
I did my spring cleaning and am ready to go with items I would easily donate to charity but am 'donating' to raise awareness of the site and attract new members that are BUYERS.

But they weren't asking for junk; they were asking for "worthwhile items" (of course, considering their current listings, this could be open to very wide interpretation).

But even without fees, listing low end items for the benefit of low-end buyers looks like a death spiral to me.

If I am going to give away items, I donate them to our local hospital's rummage sale

I picked a random category. There are 41 items listed in that category. Only 29 of these items actually relate to the category.

None of the items have bids.

Perhaps everyone snipes over there? I would search closed listings to find out if any previous listings in this category have received any bids but can't for the life of me figure out how to do so.

Actually it's more likely that no one has found the site yet. I hadn't heard of it until I saw this thread.

Frankly it's like any of the other 100's of auction sites out there. It's going to be a crap shoot.

I have used Epier since the first Yahoo snafu about 6 years ago (give or take). It's a great site to sell at, but it alone doesn't pay the bills. It's a nice suppliment and it only has a cost when you sell an item, but I wouldn't rely on it as my sole selling venue.

There are some Ebay sellers due to where they live have no access to goods suitable for resale on EBAY,so they shop on Epier,Bidville etc.

Stone, you are a master of the unstated obvious.

I think the unstated obvious is that even those who do find it aren't that interested in the offerings. I just go over there to have a good snicker at the "antiques".

But seriously, from a buyer's perspective, what is the compelling (or even moderately compelling) reason to bother going there? (Hint: Sellers not wanting to pay eBay fees is not it.)

If you sell books,Half.com is free until sold and unlike AMZN,you dont have to relist every 60 days.
You can also list household appliances and games etc on AMZN,like salad spinner or those toaster gifts you dont need.

I sell on Half also, I wish they hadn't deleted so many categories, but I still sell occasionally and it is maintence free. I have tried Amazon but do not like relisting.

Stone is correct. The site is a small player in the online auction world. There were all of 1712 items in the Stamps Category. I did not notice any bids. Looks like a waste of time.

Oh, eBay has 226,497 items listed in the Stamps Category. Where would you look for items?

The problem with these sites is the quality of merchandise up for bid-poor photos, poor description, overpriced items turn bidders off.
And they dont accept Paypal so there is no buyer protection.
These sites are just dumpsters for items you cant sell on Ebay and cant afford to keep listing !
Take a look at Aspire Auction, they dont give their stuff away and they dont need Ebay!
And you would never find their kind of merchandise on Bidville or Epier.

I'll be listing lots of bargains at the rummage sale, as well as a few of my 'staple' eBaY items.
No one sells my items at ola, however, not sure if anyone there is looking for them!
It a great time to give it a shot!

I think most visitors are sellers who are checking to see if anyone is bidding!
