Here we go!!!

I sold a jewelry item to a lady and it was delivered to her on Saturday. I sent her my usual follow up email saying item received, hope you're pleased, blah, blah, blah.

I received an email from her yesterday saying that she was pleased with the item but after thinking about it she feels she paid too much for the item and could we talk again about it on Thursday?

Talk about blatant - We all know what thursday is, don't we???

That's no more neg fb for buyers day.

I played stupid (which fortunately isn't too tough for me), and asked why she wanted to wait until thursday to discuss her purchase.

No response as of yet which doesn't surprise me at all. She's waiting until thursday so she can extort a partial refund and I will have no recourse but to take a neg from her, which I will do as I am not going to play the game of extortion for fb.

I absolutely refuse to play that game with buyers. I'll take the neg and block her. I don't know about anyone else but I decided when this stupid rule was announced that regardless of the consequences I will not negogiate with buyers for fb. It may cost me in the short run, and if it does so be it. I'll take the hit and move on.

If I go into Macys and tell the sales clerk I want the ring in the case but I want 50% off or I'm going to announce to the world that Macys is a bad company they would throw me out the door and rightly so. My business is no different nor will I conduct myself any differently.

Rant Over!!! Thanks for letting me vent.

It is going to be a mess.

I had a guy from Saudia Arabia buy an ad. He was then NARU'd so I got my final fees back. I got all these emails from him asking me to remove the stirke. Like I had caused it. I told him that he was NARU'd which is why I claimed my final fees back and if he paid for the item I would be glad to remove it (my mistake).

So he does pay for it and I mail it the next day. He leaves negative feedback that it took to long to get him. BUT..since he did not respond to the Unpaid Item process, eBay removed his negative (but left the remark). I responded to the remark: Buyer NARU'd, took 12 days to pay, mailed within 24 hrs to Arabia.

I have not left feedback for him yet, but I did block him.

We will receive negatives due to: stupidity, extortion, competitors trying to hurt your search rankings and who knows what else.

YOU have the right attitude. Take the neg and move on. Fluffy has it right. As long as you can use eBay as a venue you are OK.

You both have this right. Come Thursday not only can't we as sellers leave neg feedback, the buyers can ding our stars anyway they want and there is nothing we can do about it.

The right attitude is to "forget about it." It is out of our control.

You do the best you can, you deliver honest, respectable service and not worry about things that are out of your control (like stupid, stupid, new, awful, ugly rules). As you can plainly see I have "forgotten about it." ;-(

Vent away, Capolady. It is rare that I ask a
buyer if they were pleased with their purchase. You are leaving yourself wide open for trouble. If your description was correct and they bid, then Deal Done as far as I am concerned. JMHO

Capolady,

The new feedback rules do not go into effect until May 17 or 19th. Can't remember which.

If it is the case that she wants to neg, go with it and surprise her with a neg in return. Might teach a lesson and you can offer mutual withdrawl.

Feedback changes coming May 19th

As we had announced back in January, we're making some bold changes to how Feedback on eBay works.

Based on many conversations with both buyers and sellers since then, we've also addressed some of the top concerns we've heard.

Below is a high level recap of the planned changes.

These are scheduled to launch the week of May 19th for eBay.com and eBay Motors, and throughout the month for the rest of the international sites.

* Sellers may only leave positive feedback for buyers (at the seller's option).

* Members will receive credit for repeat Feedback (going back to 1996)

* We will base the Positive Feedback Percentage on the past 12 months of activity (and include neutral Feedback in the calculation)

* We will remove negative and neutral Feedback if a member is suspended, or when a buyer fails to respond to the Unpaid Item process.

* We'll block buyers from leaving negative or neutral Feedback for 7 days for active PowerSellers who have been on eBay for at least 12 months.

* Members can leave Feedback up to 60 days after a transaction (down from 90)

* We are introducing a new Buyer Requirement that will allow sellers to block bids from buyers who have been reported by other sellers for eBay buying policy violations (such as Feedback abuse, or email threats).

* We're also expanding the scope of the existing Bu
yer Requirement for unpaid items, so that it supports more comprehensive blocking of buyers who have a history of non-payment.

pratt, how will sellers have access to those reported buyers under the new system? since a seller can't leave any kind of neg or warning related fb after the 19th, where would that info come from?

Save the email and if she does give you a negative request removal for extortion. I understand all request are going to be deny the 1st time so you may have to do it twice.
In this case I would be tempted to go ahead and leave her a negative NOW. How can ebay fault you on that - she is extorting you after all. Maybe it could all end up with her keeping her negative and your's being removed. Wouldn't that be grand.
I wonder if ebay has consider how much time seller's are going to have to spend trying to get these negative removed. Time not use for listing - ebay - lost income to you - ebay. Plus additional staff to handle this - ebay. Did you really think this one out??

Thanks for the info about fb change date. I thought it was May 1st and obviously so do others. I'll see what she wants and then keep the email and when she negs me I'll slam her with a neg and send the email to ebay as proof of feedback extortion.

Thanks everyone!!!

I'm not stating this but here is someone else's response to this question:

How are we going to know that a buyer has been reported by other sellers for Feedback abuse ?

You will not know and you will not need to. If you set up the buyer block they can't even bid on your items.

"You will not know and you will not need to. If you set up the buyer block they can't even bid on your items."

So it will be an option to check in our selling prefernces? Cool!

No wonder they expanded the BBL.

Still not nearly big enough though.

Personally, I would simply cut ties with this one. She paid. You sent the item. End.

Don't leave feedback and don't e-mail her back any more. Move on and sell more items to other people.

She disappeared off the radar. No contact from her at all and no fb neg or otherwise. Thanks for all the advice.

I think she may have realized her mistake about the fb date and slunk away into a corner to hide.
