I think I'm going to start measuring all my jewelry in cubits.
(Remember Bill Cosby's "Noah" routine?)
A lady has been pestering me in email: Are these earrings bigger or smaller than a quarter?
Maybe she's planning on putting them in a vending machine.
Of course the dimensions are right there in the auction, but apparently the inch is no longer a commonly-accepted standard of measurement in this country. (Yes, this country. The U.S. That's where I'm posting this from. Deal with it.)
I understand that bead sellers often use coins to illustrate the size of their wares, and that's fine. I don't do it because it makes an ugly picture.
Anyway, these earrings are 1 1/2 inches top to bottom -- how many people think that's smaller than a quarter? Show of hands?

I know it's smaller than a bread box. Maybe you could tell her it's about 1 digit or 1/4 palm.

I can relate!!! I'm selling a collection of perfume bottles (with old perfume in them) for someone. Even though I measured them I got tired of people emailing me and asking me about their size. I've resorted to putting a ruler in the photo and not measurements. No more emails. Well, except those who want me to violate USPS rules and send them old perfume overseas airmail or those that ask if there is perfume in the bottles when the photos show there clearly is or who ask if I'll empty them so I can ship them overseas. Ugh. Old perfume does not smell good and I'm not stinking up my house!!!

Fluffy: I do remember Cosby's routine (as Noah, about to build an ark). "Right, Lord. . . . What's a cubit?"
One thing, though, about buying earrings: I want to know how long the pendant/jewel thing hanging from the earring is, not just the total length from the hole in the ear, which can be a bit misleading sometimes.
