My cousin died almost 6 yrs ago. She sold on ebay. Her husband and children didn't close her account so it is still sitting thre. Does ebay just leave accounts that aren't used open forever? I know this is trivial but I was just wondering.

They leave them open so that they can boast of high numbers to the investment community.

Anyone want to hazard a guess at how many "real" and "active" users there are?

Forever.

The annoying aspect is that some really good usernames were taken in the first couple years of eBay's growth...and have been long since abandoned. Can't be reused. Ever.
