FYI Someone on Stores Board posted a screenshot of the new FB screen (I think it is from ebay AU):

Wow, they really want buyers to know they have the upper hand when it comes to FB, don't they!?!Just in case they have not heard, they alert them.

I think I was able to leave my FINAL negative for a buyer this morning...was surprised it went through.

Buyer demanded a different shipping method other then what was listed..then gives me negative for not compiling...

oh..let the fun begin.....

This really bites, ebay. There will be those dishonest buyers that will have a field day with this and all we will be able to do is maybe get our FVF's back. Whoppee

I think that out of fairness, eBay should allow sellers to set bidder blocks based on amount of negative feedbacks left; if legitimate, the buyer can always contact seller to be exempted.

there is NO fairness in not being able to defend yourself

as sellers...we should all get together and form a "LEASE WANTED LIST" on a stand alone website. We could continueously ADD our BLOCKED BUYERS IDs to this list and see how large it grows. This might make eBay CONTROLLERS more aware of exactly how MANY deadbeat buyers are out there and that eBay is allowing to stay.

"I think that out of fairness, eBay should allow sellers to set bidder blocks based on amount of negative feedbacks left; if legitimate, the buyer can always contact seller to be exempted."

If they cross the feedback abuse line and are reported you will be able to block them.

Or so they say.

"And later this month...

In addition to expanding the 3-day block to 7 days, we are introducing a new Buyer Requirement that will allow sellers to block buyers who have been reported by other sellers for eBay buying policy violations (such as Feedback abuse, or email threats).

We're expanding the scope of the existing Buyer Requirement for unpaid items, so that it supports more comprehensive blocking of buyers who have a history of non-payment.

We've improved the process that sellers use to report buyers for policy violations."

Such sites already exist. Some are by subscription. Some are free.

Google "share blocked bidder list."

To me, there appears to be one nagging problem with the new feedback policy.

I believe that the feedback policy as revised, is business interference by ebay.

How you say? An ebay seller is no different than a merchant. To knowingly deny a merchant the ability to correct negative public feedback which when left standing, will have an effect upon his business dealings with past, present, and future customers, fellow merchants, and suppliers, is interference with the merchants ability to do business.

Further, when the negative feedback places the merchant in a lower position on ebay search, and the merchant is not allowed to correct the feedback, the business interference has directly reduced the ability of the merchant to do business.

Now, there are some who will claim that by accepting the revisions, and agreeing with ebay policy, a Seller has relinquished any claim of future business interference.

I do not think so. Why? Somewhere, someplace at another time, I read case law which would support the claim of business interference. Someone else will have to do the research.

At the least, if everyone is so upset at this change in feedback, write a letter (NO EMAIL) and send it to ebay legal. Certified Mail, Return Receipt, would have maximum impact. Claim business interference and your concern about your inability to address negative feedback.

I think there will be an influx of people using the judicial system to have negative feedback removed. I've seen it happen on shows like Judge Judy and a couple of the other ones out there. She, Judge Judy, has ordered it removed before because it crossed the line into defamation. I don't think the new policy is going to win over anyone having to deal with those kinds of lawsuits.

Won't affect me much my goes from 99.8 to 99.5 but I would think it would really hurt some of the powersellers who get lots of feedback.

I am trying not to get too worked up about this FB thing - postcard buyers are generally pretty reasonable people and not likely to resort to FB extortion. Still, it seems to me that eBay is TRYING to stack the deck AGAINST sellers.

First of all, buyers are prompted to leave FB immediately after buying. How meaningful can that FB be anyway - certainly shouldn't be glowing since they haven't received the item yet! Next, they are prompted to open a dispute if they haven't left FB. Finally, when they DO leave FB, they are advised that there will be no reprisals for negative FB left. How can this be fair? How can it be meaningful. I am glad (in so many ways) I do not deal with Bride-zillas and teenyboppers, They will have a field day.

Mine goes down from 99.9% to 99.7% - not exactly devastating. The reason I am not caring a whole lot is that

1) Feedback is something that I don't care a whole lot about to begin with.

2) I think within a year or maybe two, my model of selling as it is now just won't work on ebay. I've already made a move to my own site so I am moving a lot of my current ebay business to my own site anyway

3) What I will use ebay for (and am already starting to do this) is wholesale bulk lots - so far, the results are pretty decent, some sell well and some don't - but running a business with a lot of listings just isn't going to work with ebay 2.0 - I think it needs to be hit and run, just list cheap, sell, and keep selling.

Well I guess it's time to say bye-bye to my 100%. I'm sure that over the years there have been a few negative FB that I've deserved but didn't get. However there has been more than a few that I wanted to leave but didn't.
This is like ebay begging buyers to leave negatives.
