Posted on the ebay boards and AuctionBytes - ebay will not be counting neutrals in Feedback after August. And, will remove all past neutrals from previously calculated Feedback.

This looks interesting.

"By the end of October, we will roll out a new process to help you resolve issues with buyers, even after the buyer has left negative feedback. Everybody makes mistakes – buyers and sellers alike, and buyers should have a mechanism to change feedback if they make a mistake or if the seller rectifies an issue in a timely manner. Unlike with our previous Mutual Feedback Withdrawal system, our new process will enable buyers to change their feedback of the seller, not just withdraw the rating. We'll provide more details of this new process in the fall."

Can't believe this - it's great news all the way around.
Think ebay just could not ignore all the screams from sellers.

On a semi-related feedback note, a seller is claiming that he was suspended for posting negative-positives for buyers.

I take most suspension stories with large grains of salt. It will be interesting to see if it happens to anyone else.

why not just get rid of feedback and use the rating system?
I just dont see why the world has to read every remark, every item the seller sold on Ebay and for how much?
Why does Ebay have to show how much we sold the item for?what business is it of Ebay?
Ebay treats its sellers like a bunch of deformed, destitute misfits who have no place to go.

That's great news. So many buyers have no idea what "neutral" means in the eBay dictionary. I have seen loads of them given with a very positive comment. I think neutral to most of us means not really good, not really bad.

you mean the bozo that left me the negative positive will be *gasp* suspended?

+Positive feedback rating THIS IS A NEGATIVE! BUYER REFUSED MY REFUND OFFER AND FILED DISPUTE WITH PAYPAL!

funny - I had just filed this this morning way before this was posted here - honest.

CAREFUL....!!!!!

Buyer leaves positive and receives positive from seller...knowing our recent track record, buyers MAY be able to change the POSITIVE now to a NEGATIVE????

It sounds like a one way street, negative to positive. I sure hope they can't change it to a neg.

It took the folks at ebay 10 years to figure out that a neutral should be a neutral.

By some miracle, eBay happened to hire a live one.

Now. . . let us sellers leave neutrals and negatives, too, and I'll be a happy camper.

The neutrals are a red herring. I would submit that it was always eBay's intent to have them truly neutral. They are a diversion meant only as misdirection. Until the ability to leave true feedback whether positive, neutral or negative is restored to the seller we play on an unleveled playing field.

You speak the truth, Dave! Still, after many weeks, no one I've told about the new feedback system has reacted favorably. They all say, "What?! Why?!"

I got an email this morning

Dear glassgrl,

I saw your received a "fake positive" feedback from a bad seller:

THIS IS A NEGATIVE! BUYER REFUSED MY REFUND OFFER AND FILED DISPUTE WITH PAYPAL!

This is Feedback Abuse by the seller and is against eBay rules:

http://pages.ebay.com/help/policies/feedback-abuse-withdrawal.html

One of the reasons eBay will remove feedback is:
Negative statements that conflict with a positive rating

If you want this "fake positive" removed, just report it and eBay will remove it.

Good luck
