Scary, huh. Can you visualize Sarah Palin sitting down with Putin for a high-level policy discussion?

Not a problem. She's seen him rearin' his head over the narrow maritime border between Russia and Alaska.

Sarah Palin just might be able to handle a discussion as long as she's not asked any questions.

Did he really say that? I heard him say that he would like to have dinner with her. However, he has mentioned her before as someone he admires, so a position in his administration would not be a big surprise.

Yes lady - he said that in the debate on Tues night. At first he said he would name Warren Buffet (must have forgotten that Buffett supports Obama and is on of his economic advisers and top pick for Sec of Treasury), but then corrected himself and named Meg.
I heard that Meg was one of his top 3 dinner-date picks as well. Imagine - you can choose anyone in history (dead or alive because it's make believe anyway) and McCain chooses MEG WHITMAN???????

Did any one else catch his reason for picking Meg? He said, "....1.3 million people in America make their living off eBay." Is this true? Was it ever true, and if it was is it still?
Oops! have we slipped into the "forbidden zone" in talking about politics or is this OK because it is about eBay?

I think the 1.3 million people in US making living off of ebay was "out there" in terms of accuracy. There MAY be 1.2 registered sellers but most are hobbyists. The number of people making a "living" at eBay is considerably less.
I am sure this thread borders on belonging on the Round Table but it IS about ebay in some measure.
If you want to talk politics, do go to the RT. Please! It truly is a kinder gentler place than it used to be and most of the posters nowadays also post up here. We do need some Republicans to balance the discussions.

I do believe this should head on over to the RT - which being one of the few Republicans on here, I don't find it worth my time over there quite honestly. I found every time I posted a fact or opinion, or had the audacity to post an opposing view point, the liberals just tended to scream and call names - not answer with opposing facts or opinions. Gee, just like real life.
As for McCain's Meg Whitman comment - I thought it was a bunch of crud as well - but I doubt McCain shops on Ebay much to know the finer details of what's going on. If you'll recall, Whitman did help grow Ebay in to a very profitable company and revolutionized the way people shop.

Come on people like her or not you must be blind not to see what she has done in her lifetime
Meg Whitman, joined EBay as its president and chief executive in 1998, when the online auction company had 30 employees and annual revenues of $4 million, The company now has aprox. 15,000 employees. she is a billionaire, She ranked No. 361 on Forbes’ 2007 list of the richest Americans, with an estimated net worth of $1.4 billion.
McCain could do a lot worse than Meg Whitman for Treasury Secretary.

Make it 15,000 employees minus the 1500 laid off this week. She is one smart lady and lucky to be in the right place at the right time. She didn't make the 2008 Forbes 2008 Richest 400 list. Times are tough.
Of all the fascinating people who have ever lived in the world though, I just can't see choosing her as a dinner companion. I mean if McCain wants to break the bread with her, he can just call her up - I bet she'd come.
