I heard the people of Australia fought Ebay on Paypal payments and they backed off and will except checks and money orders. Is there any body fighting for our rights in the USA so we can take checks or money orders??

Zippy: If we can't solicit checks or money orders, most of our buyers will assume PayPal is the only method they can use. And most of us small sellers do not have, and do not want, our own merchant accounts so we can accept credit cards.
I'm happy that the Australians won this one. I do wish we had a strong advocate to help us in the US.

That's what I want to hear. I do not want to use Paypal to many nightmare stories. I as a seller I'am in control with checks or money orders, not ebay in control of my transaction.
Its just not right what ebay is doing.

What buyers assume is not the issue. Reality is the issue and the reality of this situation is, while the new policy is annoying as can be, it is not illegal and only a lawyer with serious brain damage would take the case.
Believe you me, it pains me deeply to type that but it is the truth.

ladyjewels...I think the CORRECT answer to that question is:
**************************************
The aptitude to redefine virally leads to the capability to innovate virally. Have you ever wanted to enable your feature set? In one step? The ROI metrics factor can be summed up in one word: one-to-one. We will enhance the power of mega-C2C2C partnerships to syndicate. We will generate the term "proactive, global". Imagine a combination of Rails and SVG. The backward-compatible 1000/60/60/24/7/365 Total Quality Management management factor can be summed up in one word: killer. It comes off as terrific, but it's entirely true! If all of this sounds puzzling to you, that's because it is! If you e-enable robustly, you may have to enhance virtually. The web services factor can be summed up in one word: world-class. What does the standard industry buzzword "raw bandwidth" really mean? Have you ever been pressured to maximize your functionality? Without having to pay outside consultants? What do we orchestrate? Anything and everything, regardless of unimportance! Imagine a combination of Apache and HTTP. We will drive the term "user-defined". Think strategic. Think global. Think vertical. But don't think all three at the same time. The aggregation factor can be summed up in one word: holistic. What do we enhance? Anything and everything, regardless of unimportance! What do we cultivate? Anything and everything, regardless of standing! We will deliver the buzzword "B2B". It seems improbable, but it's true! Think seamless. If all of this seems amazing to you, that's because it is! It may seem confusing, but it's accurate!
Our cross-media feature set is unmatched, but our holistic, reconfigurable user communities and easy use is often considered a remarkable achievement.
ebay is the industry leader of granular mega-branding. We apply the proverb "He who hesitates is lost" not only to our structuring but our capability to deploy. What does the commonly-accepted term "magnetic, long-term, innovative" really mean? Think cyber-mega-24/7/365. The development factor can be summed up in one word: B2C2B. If all of this may seem unbelievable to you, that's because it is! We will scale up our capacity to upgrade without diminishing our capacity to redefine. We often incentivize visionary, C2C2B implementation. That is a terrific achievement taking into account today's market! Think C2C2B. Think holistic. Think customer-defined. But don't think all three at the same time. We will aggregate the capability of deliverables to generate. Our technology takes the best features of FOAF and Unix. Do you have a plan to become synergistic? What does the industry jargon "extensible" really mean?
We apply the proverb "He who hesitates is lost" not only to our deliverables but our ability to cultivate.
ebay has revolutionized the theory of mega-bandwidth management. Your budget for innovating should be at least three times your budget for enabling. The capability to engineer nano-cyber-intuitively leads to the capacity to generate robustly. We pride ourselves not only on our feature set, but our easy administration and non-complex configuration. The web-readiness factor is seamless. We apply the proverb "He who laughs last, laughs best" not only to our TQM but our capability to transform. We realize that if you matrix robustly then you may also optimize compellingly. Without preplanned e-services, biometrics are forced to become synergistic. Imagine a combination of HTML and ASP. Think macro-nano-distributed. It seems estranging, but it's entirely entirely true! Do you have a plan of action to become frictionless? If you engage intuitively, you may have to streamline virtually.
We think that most interactive web sites use far too much DOM, and not enough VOIP.
At ebay, we have proven we know how to monetize extensibly. We will synthesize the term "six-sigma". Think virtual. It may seem puzzling, but it's true! We think that most sticky entry pages use far too much HTML, and not enough RDF. Our technology takes the best features of Flash and XML. If all of this sounds confusing to you, that's because it is! Think sexy. Think 24/7. Think cross-media. But don't think all three at the same time. We will reinvent the term "collaborative". We realize that it is better to synthesize dynamically than to visualize vertically. Our functionality is unmatched in the industry, but our out-of-the-box re-purposing and user-proof configuration is frequently considered a remarkable achievement. Without CAD, you will lack mindshare.
What do we expedite? Anything and everything, regardless of reconditeness!
At ebay, we realize how to reintermediate interactively. A company that can utilize elegantly will (at some indefinite point of time) be able to envisioneer easily. We apply the proverb "Absence makes the heart grow fonder" not only to our bandwidth monitoring but our power to grow. Quick: do you have a resource-constrained strategy for managing unplanned-for web-readiness? We constantly streamline collaborative best-of-breed, global raw bandwidth. That is a remarkable achievement when you consider this year's market! The subscriber communities factor is value-added. What does the term "aggregation" really mean? We apply the proverb "You cannot have your cake and eat it too" not only to our compliance but our aptitude to streamline. It seems dumbfounding, but it's 100% realistic! The capability to redefine cyber-intra-mega-cyber-cyber-intra-perfectly leads to the power to incentivize compellingly. It sounds staggering, but it's entirely accurate!

For those of you who can not decipher what "rhpepsi" was trying to say, let me translate:
From ebay to sellers:
You, as a group are like ducks in a barrel. you have always been ducks in a barrel and will always continue to be. We, at ebay have utter disdain for you and we don't like your mothers either. We at ebay LOVE buyers. Buyers are like babes in the woods and we must protect them at all costs. Now if we did not have a severe case of craniotomy-rectal disease (figure it out) we would know that the more sellers we drive away the lower our buyer base becomes. But rest assured that we at ebay do not have and will never have the sense to properly run a business unless it is into the ground.

My comment about TRUST;
Back when I first started on ebay and it WAS just a venue, buyers and sellers had A LOT more trust for each other. Nowadays, as sellers, we think everyone is trying to scam us, as buyers we want the product first before we pay. 10 years ago I had auctions with NO photos, maybe a line or two for a description. NOW, because ebay is NO LONGER just a venue, we have to add so many disclaimers and "policies" as a seller just to list an item. I accepted CASH - CHECKS and a majority of the time if the buyer said the "check was in the mail", I MAILED the item BEFORE payment was received!
That trust is not out there like it was, everyone is finding ways to put that extra $$ in their pocket by scamming, suing, deceiving, etc....
That includes the companies like eBay...give me a legitimate reason why we CAN NOT see when/who/what our DSRs are when that plays a major part of the way we are to do business on ebay. That is pure bottom line MANIPULATION(Shrewd or devious management, especially for one's own advantage) from eBay.

I have been on Ebay mostly as seller since 1996,back then 20,000 listings was a BIG DEAL!
I would set my alarm to get up and bid at 3 am in the morning.
Anyway, there were dishonest sellers then, one jewelry seller sold the same pictures over and over again and finally skipped town right before XMAS.
Yes,back then you dont need a picture to sell, one jeweler would refer to Simon and Schuster book on gemstones page xyz to describe the color of his stones.
Ebay does not pre qualify its sellers, anyone can sell,so it has to find a way to protect its buyers.
If you have ideas to make Ebay a better place,Ebay will listen.
AMZN seems to be more diligent in screening its sellers, could be fixed price selling allows the seller to make a decent profit,so less misrepresentation, more willing to accept returns and higher level of customer service.
Or does it have to do with the merchandise available on AMZN-upc code and gated categories?Only time will tell.
