After reading one of Fluff's posts, I tried googlingn "Donohoe eBay disruption" to find a quote I remembered. I clicked on a link that was an "encyclopedia" something, looked liked Wikipedia, but was an anti-eBay site. It started hanging and I realized it was downloading stuff to my computer. I started getting messages from windows that Trojans are on my computer. I ran a McAfee scan that found there were viruses but did not resolve them. Are there any free-ware scans/solutions you can recommend?

I have always used AD-AWARE as a backup program with Nortons as the main.

Go to Download.com...they have several FREE ones

do you have that website in your history? I'd like to take a look at it myself. I ran across one the other day in google myself. post the site please if you can.

this works well. If you don't use IE you have to download it to your computer rather than the online scan.

Housecall works good too.

It could just be one of the "scare" sites though which is why I want to look at it.

Rhpepsi, I LOVED Ad-aware, but they no longer support the free stuff and don't have updates for it. I ran it anyway and it didn't find anything

oh wait - I turned off adblock and got a really UGH gross popup of a girl spread legged. Well maybe if you're a 16 yo boy you'd like it. Wow you get a new one every time you go to the page. That is gross.

Pixia is working on fixing it now - it is the malware xp2009 anitvirus virus and evidently all over the internet now. There are fixes - she will probably post when she gets it cleaned up. Turn those malware blockers on when you surf and make sure your program is up to date.

hmmmm. Malwarebytes found 2 trojan agents on my computer that looked like this (I don't know if it was from that web page or not):

Glassgirl, I didn't see any of the monkey porn and I swear I didn't click on anything, just scrolled.

I downloaded another "free" detector - it scanned, found the files, then when I clicked "Remove", it said "Give me $30". Then I went to malawarebytes, it scanned AND removed the malware. Thanks all for the help. Now I get to work on another grizzly problem - unclogging the toilet and mopping up the bathroom - ugh!

I got a kick out of a little flag McAffee put up the moment Malwarebytes removed the files notifying me that McAffee had detected and successfully removed a trojan - yeah, right!
