I just got off the phone from talking to an Ebay representative. She called me asking if I knew about all the changes on Ebay. I told her that I did, and she wanted to send me an email with links to the information. I asked her if Ebay wasn't wanting to know my opinions on any of her changes. She said they did. So I relayed a bunch of my complaints (a bunch!) along with complaints I have heard about Ebay and their policies while I am at local auctions and antique shows. Think they will boot me because I was so negative about my opinion of them?

First, I don't know if the people you talk to are really from eBay or if they're from a third party company hired by eBay. The last person I talked to was clearly elderly and clearly reading from a script. I got the distinct impression that she didn't work for eBay at all.

Secondly, I wouldn't worry about ranting to eBay. It falls on deaf ears anyway. It's really a waste of energy better left to something else.

Cheryl
Whitman said she and McCain share a philosophy of scaling back the role of government. a point of view partly shaped by her EBay experience. "The EBay model is very Republican in its essence -- it's about making a small number of rules and getting out of the way while not overtaxing the community," she said.

I talked to someone on eBay a couple of days ago about the new policy of only putting a limited number of the same item on each listing. However many you put on your listing, it comes up as "more than 10". I explained that in most cases I can understand it, but it doesn't work with the hundreds of yarn sellers like me who sell yarn by the skein. I asked her if people are supposed to guess how many you are selling? I told her I didn't think in this case that the new rule was a good thing. She told me the best way to get eBay's attention was to send an email to [email protected] She told me that they are all read and discussed. We will see.

hold your breathe and see what happens... i have a sneaky suspicion you'll start turning blue, then collapse, then die, have a funeral, the next generation of sellers will come and go, and another will come and go all by the time you should consider seeing significant changes to ebay.

maybe it is me, but does ebay have evidence that all of these changes have helped their business grow, or is it another case of another company over-inflating their net worth?

maybe it's the opposite. maybe ebay anticipated the downturn in the market, job loss, unemployment, and expect a boom of new sellers who can't find a job... maybe just maybe this IS THE GREAT GLOBAL EBAY CONSPIRACY!!! lol.

No. Quite the contrary, in fact; look at the 3Q results.

Donahoe is on record as blaming the economy. My opinion is that as an excuse, that one is going to quit flying and hit the ground with a thud sometime in January. Look for eBay's Board to appoint an interim CEO.

I don't think you have anything to worry about. I'm sure 95% of the sellers they call give them an ear full.

You're nothing to them, so they just don't care.

I try not to give the reps themselves too much of an earful, it's not their fault. They are having problems too - 10% of their workforce is being laid off - they are probably worried about hanging on to their jobs - not the seller's complaints. I do bring up issues and ask them to pass it along to a supervisor or bring it up in their meetings - maybe it will help, maybe not - but I'm not going to beat up on an employee for something they have no control over.
