A buyer emailed earlier this afternoon and asked me if she would still get to use her coupon with my "Buy 5 get 10% discount" deal. I said coupon would work on one item only but I would be happy to custom-make a 5 item lot with my discount built in the price so she could get use the ebay discount for the whole purchase. I didn't hear back from her until just now and she just bought one item and said coupon wouldn't work!
So what are we as sellers supposed to do about these ebay coupons when they don't work? I tried to explain that this was an ebay (not seller) issue but I am pretty sure she won't
"get it".

On my buying ID I got a 10% off that expires today. Then I woke up this morning to a 40% off: 10% ebay and 30% Microsoft Cash back.

The latest coupon I got from Ebay expired yesterday 11/30.
I did have an email from a buyer today saying her coupon did not work. I told her she needed to talk to Ebay, it was not MY coupon and it does not show up in my account.
The only time that I realize that a customer used a coupon is when I go to do a partial refund for some kind of overpayment and PayPal will not allow the refund. I know then that they redeemed a coupon.

I WISH that if ebay were going to run these coupon events, which do help sales .... that they would have the intelligence to run them through Christmas. Buyers do not understand and we are left to deal with it!
I used the Microsoft deal yesterday to buy some wii software for our grandchildren. They REALLY made people jump through hoops to get it. It took EXTREME patience thus what I said above works here as well. Make it easy and let it last through the holiday.

Hey Beth and Mahalo Fluff and hi bj and merrie - THe customer didn't seem too upset about missing the coupon (was a $10 postcard so really no big deal). If eBay is going to offer these they should at least make it site wide and make it work!
I did some cyber shopping yesterday. On two of the sites I visited I saw places to put in coupon codes at the checkout, so I thought I would Google to see if those sites had some coupons I didn't know about. There were advertised promotions with clickable links back to the site and VOILA - my shopping cart was updated with the discount promotion! I wouldn't have even known about the extra discount had I not taken the time to Google. I bought some sweaters at one site that offered 50% off and free shipping on the web site and then I got an additional 25% off by using the promotion code link. Sure beats B&M shopping!
I just used the MS Live 30% discount coupon to buy a Northface down coat for my daughter in Kazakhstan. I found the coats at many sites at $298 retail price. I checked eBay and found the coat for $269, free shipping and got $80 off INSTANTLY with the live search. They do make you go through hoops but once you get the hang of it it's not so bad. Probably works because it's Microsoft and not eBay.

When you get to Live search, search " Nintendo wii ". (Make sure you use IE if you have ad black enabled on FF). You will get results on the next page. Above the results are the paid ad links (if you aren't seeing paid links then you must have them blocked somewhere). Ebay is usually at the top of the paid ads (don't even look at the search results - cash back is not there - has to be paid ad link). When you click on the link you arrive on ebay - you should see a green cash back logo at the top of the page. You can then search for whatever you want or even put the item # in ebay search box and cash back should apply. You will see it before you commit to buy. Don't commit to buy if you don't see it cuz you won't get it after the fact!
