We've had 27 inches this week, two more storms coming. The sky turns SO blue after a storm!
And this last is looking FROM our front porch toward the ridges.

Beautiful! However, I am not thinking very kindly about snow just now with my prospects of making it to Oregon in the near future diminishing.
We midwesterners forget that California can also have snow - and LOTS of it. The photography is very nice too!

What beautiful photos...picture postcard perfect!
Speaking of Postcards....I have my fingers crossed for you, Neglus that you can get to Portland to be with Pixiamom and your Mom.
Is it your daughter in Las Vegas who is going with you? If so, then how has she been doing with the unusual Las Vegas snow.
We were there in mid November and it was gorgeous...temp was 72-76...just perfect after our visit to Lake Havasu where it was over 90 and a Santa Ana wind blowing. Yuk...a duststorm in a gravel pit!
We just came in from a walk (it is 10.30pm ) and it is still snowing here in Victoria and we saw the City's three snow plows working to try to prepare the streets for tomorrow mornings traffic but I don't think anything has flown out of our airport for a couple of days now. This is so NOT like Victoria weather...we are usually more like Portland and Seattle!

Yes - daughter from Las Vegas is supposed to join me (with boyfriend) - her flight was canceled Saturday too.
My mom is having surgery (emergency but not life threatening) tomorrow morning and Pixia can't get from Portland to Salem either. We have another sister who fortunately lives in Salem and will make sure Mom gets to the hospital. I hope I will be there to see her in the recovery room. They had to evacuate Betsy's (other sister) house this evening because branches and trees were falling all over the roof and garage. Mom planned to stay with her this evening because her house is virtually inaccessible with ice and snow. They ended up in a hotel!
What an unusual Christmas this will be!

Beautiful pictures!! I am so sorry to hear about your Mom needing surgery in this terrible weather. Don't add to her anxiety by trying to travel in impossible weather, I am sure she is in good hands. Take care of yourself too.

neglus,
You hearty Minnesota folks should do fine out here in Oregon. (I was born In MN) I live in Bend and this is normal fare for us but I guess the folks on the other side of the mountain, which I think I remember is your destination, are having it a bit worse because the temps are higher there so they get a lot more Ice. My brother and my wife's sister live in Portland and they are reporting some dicey driving conditions at times.
Anyway, come on out and travel safe,
Peace,
Don

Update: Mom's surgery went OK. Neglus' flight is one of the few that departed for PDX today, albeit 6-1/2 hours late. Sister Betsy's house escaped without serious damage. I'm still stuck in Portland with a dead car and very lively cat. Things could be worse!

Glad to hear your mother is doing well after her surgery.
It's great that neglus made it out. So many people are stuck right now. She's very lucky. I don't think any flights went out of Anchorage yesterday because a good percentage of our flights go to Seattle or Portland. We had a lot of people spending the night in the airport last night.
Stay warm and stay off the streets. If you have to drive somewhere...take it slow.

Beautiful photos Adele. If that doesn't get you in the Christmas spirit nothing will.
Pixiamom & Neglus - glad to hear your mother is doing well. That alone should help make it a Merry Christmas for you guys.

I love those pictures. Snow can make an ugly winter into one of the most beautiful scenes that you would ever want to see.
Speaking of Bend Oregon, recongize these?

pixiamom,
Glad your mom is doing OK. Ice in the valley can be nasty. Glad your house escaped. Got power?
My wife's dad lives in Grants Pass so we plan to venture out Friday morning, hope things have settled by then.
Glad Neglus made it OK.
stonecold,
Lava Lands it a cool park. Closed and snowed in now. Are these vacation pictures?
Peace,
Don

Gosh...I keep coming back to look at those beautiful pictures, Adele.
Glad to hear that 'Mother Negpix' came through surgery well. What a relief for you all. Happy to hear that Neglus has arrived in Portland. One of the very few happy travel stories of today.
Our news showed people at Vancouver and Victoria airports who have been there for 3 days and our Eastern airports in Toronto and the one in Calgary are at a standstill. Westjet has passengers stranded from one side of Canada to the other...what a mess!
So glad we are staying home for this holiday.

Yes they are vacation pics. Mom & Dad live in Springfield, so we made it a day trip. Everyone I show the photo of the tree wonders where the dragon is.
