I always get the standard congratulatory email whenever an auction ends with bids.

"Your Item Sold" by all legal standards including those by the IRS means that you truly sold your item... you have payment already.

I know this may be nitpicking, but shouldn't it really read, "Your eBay auction received bids and closed"?

I like your statement. There is a period of time between auction ending and payment recieved which can range from a few seconds to never.

Now that ebay has virtually forced us to accept Paypal, I think I may change my Buy It Nows to Immediate Payment Required.

I have 4 items that are unpaid that have ended over the last week. No contact, nothing. It used to be that most people used paypal within a few hours. Now it seems that most people wait until you file a NPB complaint and then either pay or ignore it.

Question: Does Powerseller status requirements of $1K a month include only the auctions paid for, or all items that have bids on it?

I believe it is items sold - it doesn't look at payments received. My non pays are now up to about 10% of sales, I used to have maybe 1% at the very most. The Buy It Nows should be immediate payment required, but if you accept offers, they don't have to pay right away.

I believe that most of the small-time sellers and buyers have a life outside of eBay. They do not sit at the computer 24/7.

I believe that the auctions they win may have ended at a time when winner has gone to bed, or got stuck in one of these terrible snow storms, is having to clean up flood damage, or could have a work related situation that takes them out of town. Or, like myself, have many animals that need tending-to before I plop down at the computer.

I have never forced 'immediate payment', and don't intend to, and in all my years of selling, I can count on one hand the number of non-payers, and have been scammed only once.

I will send out a friendly reminder about 7 days after end of auction, and again after about the 12th day before I go and file NPB and negative feedback.
