I purchased a wonderful postcard on eBay of a camera obscura in Denmark. I remembered a past thread about translating Danish and found several on Google. On a 2005 thread Itray gave a link to InterTran which is very helpful. I have been frustrated at the lack of support for a number of languages by Babel Fish and this will be very useful.
I was able to translate a good bit of the sign but there are several words that are not clear on the card. My memory is that one of the board member's (Neglus?) husband is Danish. I wonder if a some of the text that is not clear to me would be obvious to a speaker of Danish.
This is what I get from my attempt with Interan:
"Known (Famous?) optical mirror reflects lifelike images"
This is pretty standard camera obscura hype so I am comfortable with that. I can also can read "Langelinie" which I know is a waterfront area in Copenhagen. Then something about a "voyage to Rhenden" and "6 persons 1 Kr (Krone)" which must be the price of admission.
I would appreciate any suggestions on the accuracy of my translation or any hints on the parts I can not understand.
There are also vending machines on the side of the CO with unreadable signs. Might they be candy dispensers?

I'm having trouble reading the small print.
Camera Obscura. Optical glass mirrors with moving pictures. If you can type out the small print, I can try to translate.

Thanks for your suggestions. The problem is with the small print. I can't see it clearly enough to type it out. I was hoping that it would be obvious to a Danish speaker. I will post a larger scan of the smaller type and see is that helps.

My husband is SWISS, not Danish Photo. Pixiamom is fluent in Swedish, Norwegian and I think Danish. I think ohmslucy was Danish but maybe she just could cook Danish ableskivers (or escargot as the case may be) or at least had an ableskiver pan:

I used wikipedeia the other day with some translations and it worked ok.
I got back some possible meanings and I was able to piece the message together.

af livet paa langelinie (translated of life at Langelinie (name of pier)
og Sejladsen (and navigation)
om Rheden (place name?)
At the bottom:
6 people - 1 krone

I am glad my innocent question about Danish translation dredged up such happy memories for the posters with some history on the board. I remember the thread but am not sure if I was a lurker or poster then.
To rerail (is that the opposite of derail?) the post. Does anyone have a suggestion on the vending machines? Is it my imagination or do I see "Chocolate" on the side of the machine on the left?

Perhaps postcards from the camera obscura ?
Did a search on the history of vending and found this... "The first modern coin-operated vending machines were introduced in London, England in the early 1880s, dispensing post cards. "

Postcards was my first thought but I can't find anything in the signs on the machines that translate as "postcard" in Danish. It is not as important as the camera obscura sign which is easier to understand.

I wonder if they are arcade cards (without postcard back)? Or could tickets to the camera obscura itself be vending machine distributed?
