I found these two little plates at a garage sale over the weekend and was wondering if anyone know anything about SEG Paul Revere Pottery.
Here is a photo - the one one the right has the embossed stamp and is dated 1937, the other has P.R.P. and is dated 1924. It is signed LS for Lili Shapiro who, from what I have found out, is one of the better decorators at the pottery.
Does anyone have any idea of the value of the either of these or where I can go to find out?
TIA

Also the one on the right has a crackled look. I seem to remember something about some PRP being made this way by design. Does anyone know this to be a fact or is it just damage??

They bring good prices - like in the $700 - $1,000 range - SEG stands for Saturday Evening Girls - I put a blurb below on it for you - just google SEG Paul Revere Pottery and you'll get plenty of information - they were in the Arts and Crafts period - sounds like you have a great yard sale find!

At the turn of the 20th century, progressive ideals flourished across the US. Day schools and various organizations were instituted to provide opportunities to the less economically well endowed. One such experiment was the the Paul Revere Pottery, which enabled young women to develop craft and business skills. Today, the charming painted and glazed pieces of the Saturday Evening Girls command prices that only the well heeled can afford. Quite a tribute to the ideals of the activists who designed the program and the girls who devoted themselves to its accomplishment

Thanks Caroline, you've been very helpful.
I've googled these for 2 days and looked in all the antique books that I have for information.
I'm pretty sure the price you stated is good for the little plate but I'm not sure about the Lili Sharpio plate. I don't want to give it away.
Do you think the crackle on the little plate is damage or was done by design?
I'm not even sure if these are ebay items?? I guess I could check with an auction house or two and see what they say. I don't think I could get over 1/2 book value on ebay.

PS - Yes it was a great "Garage Sailing" day. They had lots of old glass (mostly milk glass) and everything was marked $10.00. I got these and some cranberry glass.
This was the best find but everything was good that day.

The crackle was probably part of the design like a Dedham pottery piece - I think I'll hit some sales this weekend!
